I was attracted to "feminism" specifically (as opposed to just promoting not being sexist) from the TV show Veronica Mars. The depiction is very problematic, but they have some good anti-rape-culture stuff they talk about.

ever since I was very young I noticed all my favourite stories, movies, games are generally male based. I was about eight or nine when I wanted the equal treatment of women. I became agnostic when I was ten and then I became an atheist when I was eleven because I believe that religion is sexist.

I believed that women should be treated equally since I was nine, but my feminism didn't really become strong till' I was seventeen. I read and liked Twilight, but now I'm nineteen and am anti-Twilighter and a very strong feminist because I believe Twilight is anti-feminist and promotes female subserviance.

I have always been this way, the one who stood up to the boys in the playground, watched action movies and thought that girls could do things just as good as guys...if not better XD

I've been leaning on the feminist side for as long as I can remember. For example in early grades of elementary school when I watched Power Rangers I remember being annoyed by the male lead Tommy around all the previously capable women turned into damsels in distress. In early teens I hated Jane Austine novels because I considered them guidebooks on how to become a good housewife (I have a somewhat more complex relationship with Austine now, lol).

I always thought boys and girls are equal and in grade two whenever a boy teased a girl or said boys were better, I would yell at them :P

I was a feminist before I even knew what it was to be a feminist. I also knew that my misogynistic pig of a grandfather smelled it on me. I know why I was always considered the black sheep, because I did things my own way.

I was a feminist since I first went to school. All the boys were entitled and the teachers spent their whole time trying to sort them out. I was a feminist since I first read the news. Every day, a girl was raped... these are just the extreme ones that make it into the paper. I was a feminist since I first started playing online games. On many games, the character was male only. There was a special "Girl Section" with dress up games and cute little kitties. In other words, 90% of the games were "Boys Section". I was a feminist since I first saw the statistics: Women earn 82% of a mans wages. Many people factor in children the women look after, their "emotional stability" and a whole load of other rubbish, but this doesn't explain how men get paid more for doing exactly the same thing. I was a feminist since I saw the conditions Muslim and Arab women live in, the property of men, keeping their faces hidden, not allowed to drive.

In other words, I was a feminist as soon as I opened my eyes.

Since a particular event in the the first grade when this idiot told me and a bunch of other kids(he was in 5th grade) that women have no power in soceity and men can do more, I kicked him in the shins:-) I've been a total feminist since then telling people to give equality for all genders.

Between this age I've became more aware about feminism and had more stronger feelings toward it. I mean, I've always was really strong on women's right's, but I became a more involved feminist in this time period.

a lot of people say that a feminist means you hate men. no. we hate the man who abuse us and treat us like trash just because they think they're better then us. being feminist means we are strong enough to know what is right or wrong. men can be feminist if they think it's wrong for people to hate and treat women wrong. anyone who doesn't believe in sexism is basically feminist. i noticed this when i was very young. i still love men just not the ones that treat women like trash

When I was 14 I began to have feminist questions about society, because I really hit puberty and was treated different by boys and men and society in general, which provoked me to think those thoughts and ask those questions. I began to feel stronger about them and identifying them, and also formed strong ground opinions that were feminist when I was 15. I'm 16 today, it's my birthday :-)

I was the kid who cried in 3rd grade because all the boys in my grade ripped up pictures of Danica Patrick cud she was a girl. I was the girl who wondered why girls weren't allowed to take their shirts off. I was the girl who ended friendships because her friend made a rape joke. Some girls I know reject feminism because their parents are old-school, burning bras, Gloria Steinem feminists, but I embrace it.

I believe in cultural feminism.Cultural feminism believes that there is a distinctive ‘male culture’ and a ‘female culture,’ which are different largely due to the differing biology of men and women, and they manifest in differing social behaviors. So for e.g. cultural feminists see nurturing and caring to be more of ‘female culture,’ than ‘male culture,’ and this they recognize as being intrinsic to the process of being female. Cultural feminists also believe that the contributions of ‘female culture,’ such as child care, domestic work etc. have been disregarded and greatly devalued in society, largely because they are unpaid. They also believe that social systems have evolved along lines of ‘male culture,’ and include traits like competition and aggression, and so they tend to isolate women. The focus of cultural feminists is to have ‘women’s work’ – particularly in the domestic care and child care arena recognized as economically and socially productive. And to change the work place environment outside the domestic realm to incorporate more ‘female culture’ and make it accessible to women.
