I'm writing a story where the character is a pop star but I've never done an actual band fic.

It wouldn't interest me.

I've written one. I like to try everything once in terms of writing lol.

It sounds interesting. Was it a regular fiction or a rpf (real people fiction) fic?

^^ A real people one. I posted it on AO3. It's mostly centered around Sharon from Within Temptation. But other symphonic metal bands are there too.

@zanhar1 Okay but you should post this poll on the Fanfiction club in that case. This club is only for stuff related to Fanfiction.net, not just fanfiction in general.

I mean people have been using this club for fan-fiction in general; I use it that way because there is much less activity on the other club. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's not like I'm asking something completely irrelevant. To me there's no point in asking this poll in a club where no one's gonna answer whereas I'll get answers and conversation here.

You could also write a bandfic about a fictional band without using any real people and breaking the website's rules.

I know right? I mean personally I don't feel comfortable writing rpf fics but it's not like you're making money off of them or purposely selling them as fact. It's fiction. Everyone knows it's not true. Fanfiction is supposed to be fun, right? As long as you're not doing anything seriously wrong, I see no problem.

I'll write real people fics as long as they don't have shipping. That's kinda creepy, especially if they are already in a relationship. I'm with you as long as it isn't anything creepy or offensive. But I can understand Flicker's point too; I can see how some celebs would think its weird.

^I think the shipping/shipping with people who aren't their RL partners would be one of the main things which'd cause offence. That and stories which portray the real people negatively, make them do stuff they wouldn't do in reality etc.

Fanfiction.net even bans stories for some works where the original's creator has protested against fan fiction, so it's no wonder they wouldn't want people writing about real celebrities. It'd be easier to be offended by someone writing you wrongly than someone writing your characters wrongly.

^Exactly! That's why I don't write Rpf fics. It just feels wrong messing with my favorite celebrities like that especially when they're perfectly happy in their relationships. I feel like I'm writing a tabloid or something instead of a fic.
