I'm not just a princess you know. That's only half of who I am!

Alright, this artikel is going to be really bad and thrown together, but I need to write it while I still have the words. I get really tired of people hating on any princess, but this is the complaint that gets on my nerves the most: melati has everything and still wants more! Doesn't she get how lucky she is?

I'm hoping this artikel will get Jasmine's motives across to you, because I'm really going through the same thing. I have a nice house, my parents both have jobs and are happily married, I got a scholarship to the high school of my dreams, I go to disney World once a year, and my brother is amazing. But there's always this deep longing for something more.

melati knows her life is great- she's not stupid. She realizes that she lives in a paradise. But, as it often turns out, the one thing she really needs is the one thing she can't have- freedom. melati is a free spirit who just wants to go out and do something, anything, on her own. She wants to break away from her dull routine of wake up, get pampered, go to sleep. Remind anda of another princess who wanted more? Unlike that princess, however, it is literally impossible for melati to go after her freedom without breaking the rules and disregarding responsibility. Sure, it wasn't very smart, but Jasmine's only 15- even younger than Ariel! So I want anda to imagine something:

There's this one thing anda need. It's not a material thing, it's a longing. A deep longing for something indescribable. It tugs at your heart, and drives anda insane every time anda think about it. Your life is dull and uneventful, and anda feel the only way to find that one thing is oleh leaving it behind forever. Would anda go? Would anda go, so that anda can finally complete yourself, your soul? atau would anda remain broken forever, trapped in a world of emas encrusted walls and false smiles?

I'm fine if anda still want to say Jasmine's a bitchy little brat. I just wanted to see if maybe I could make someone understand. If after membaca this anda can honestly say that her running away was unfounded, then be my guest. But, if you've made it this far, than thank anda for membaca and trying to understand *gives warm pie*

madisonsavanna Well, I still kind of disagree, it's her whining that really annoys me. I'm a lucky girl, but I'm bored with my life. That doesn't mean I get to sit around the house whining and yelling at my mom about how predictable my life is. I really try to keep my negative thoughts to myself and look on the bright side of how I'm lucky to actually have a loving family and a roof over my head unlike many. She just seems very.....negative. But still, great article! You defended her well :)

firegirl1515 ^^Yeah, some of it is just her headstrong personality. She does complain, but if you were cooped up in the same place for fifteen years, I think everything might get a little old. Thanks for the compliment!

TigerRanma Yeah, you defended her well. Well I can understand Jasmine and I like her and everything. But I also agree with madisonsavanna. She reminds me^ too much of myself too. =/

percyandpotter THANK YOU! i feel exactly the same. for example, Rose from Titanic. no one says she's a brat with a fabulous life on the Titanic spot. she's rich, she fell in love with a poor boy, and is engaged to a man she doesn't love. there's no evidence that Jasmine's complained before over and over. i think she asked before to go outside the palace walls, was refused, and just got sad and dropped it. it probably built up until she had to spill it out-everyone has the right to complain sometimes. anyway, i know i'm ranting. i feel really strongly about this.

MackenzieS I never thought of Jasmine that way, but you're completely right. Also, I can totally relate to you. Like you, I've basically gotten everything I've ever wanted, but for some reason, it just isn't enough. You always want something more...adventure. Something that isn't just wake up, get dressed, go to school, come home, do your homework, watch some T.V., eat dinner, shower, and go to sleep. It's all so boring. I completely understand. We all want what we can't have, right?

faya27 Yes I agreed with you. Like Ariel, Jasmine had a good life, but wanted more. Sometimes people do get bored with their dull daily routine and want to do something different and exciting. The Suitor thing bugged Jasmine because her father didn't understand what kind of husband she wanted to marry. She tried telling him that the suitors were jerks and were not marriage material. Yes, royalty isn't all it is cracked up to be. Yes, in Disney movies, royalty is nice but in reality, it is royally painful. Look at what happened to Princess Diana or any woman who married King Henry the 8th.

Queenofpink I agree completely! I really hate when people bash Jasmine and Ariel for wanting more than what they had. Belle was really the same way too, she didn't want to stay in her village, she wanted more, to go out and have adventures. I understand why they would get tired of doing the same thing everyday with nothing new and exciting. I love Jasmine, she's my favorite, so I feel defensive of her, and Ariel as well (she's my third favorite.)

1. I would change my name to Anna
My parents almost named me Anna because my mom thinks it is jus beautiful. The reason they didn't was because it sounded horrible with my last name! anda would either have to say my whole name with a British accent atau a Redneck one, it just didn't work! :P Anyway if I had a different last name I would want my name to be Anna, it sounds so pretty and rolls off the tongue so prettily :)
