Here is the letter for the write-in campaign (please thank Stacey for all the time and effort that she put into this). Please have a read through it and let us know if there is anything that we should add atau change before we send it in. Also please pay attention to the spelling and grammer and let us know if there are any spelling atau grammatical errors that we shoud fix. Thank anda all for submitting your wishes, this is truely a community effort. Cheers!

Looking Back on Series 4 & Looking Ahead to Series 5

Dear Gentlemen:

Happy New tahun to anda and your fellow Merlin creators. This letter is coming to anda on behalf of the many, in fact hundreds, of members of the Arthur & Gwen fan Site on FanPop.com. We here at the Arthur & Gwen fan Site atau Arwen Spot, would like to commend anda and all of the members of the Merlin creative and productive teams for a series that was visually compelling, mature and emotionally griping.

Those of us at the Arwen Spot can scarcely believe that series 4 has ended although the fun is just about to begin for our members in the States and elsewhere as they view series 4 on the SyFy network. Looking back on the series, there are many highlights beginning notably with your use of 35mm film which categorically transformed and heightened the visual depth and intensity of Merlin.

The creative team of Merlin continued to impress us in series 4 with the script menulis of Lucy Watkins, Howard Overman and Richard O’Brien as well as the addition of stellar guest characters and actors. We at the Arwen Spot were enamoured with the appearances of queen Annis, Tristan & Isolde, Alator, Helios and as always Hunith.

The mature themes pulsing and running through Merlin series 4 emphatically developed and transformed all of the central characters of the show. Most notably the death of Uther, the ascension of Arthur to the takhta and Guinevere’s enchantment were pivotal in the progression and maturation of Arthur as a man and as a king.

The Merlin series 4 finale ending with the coronation of Guinevere was an exuberant and benchmark moment for all of us fan at the Arwen Spot. Now with Arthur and Guinevere on the takhta of Camelot, there is much anticipation and speculation as to the future and development of our beloved characters in the forthcoming series.

And finally, congratulations to all for the BEST RATINGS OF ALL TIME AS A SERIES for the series 4 finale. We expected nothing less, what with Excalibur, the Coronation and great action sequences; it was a brilliant combination that was sure to win.
Now looking ahead to series 5 (because we cannot help ourselves) over the last week, a most interesting thread occurred on our Arthur and Guinevere spot; we discussed our wishes for the tampil in series 5. We happily share our wish daftar now. Some of it is guaranteed to make anda smile, other bits perhaps will make anda roll your eyes and despair of this fandom, but know we are invested, which means anda did your jobs.
Again, thank anda for the laughs, the love, the tears and the reckoning. Onward and upward to Albion.

Series 5 Wish List

•Although we were quite pleased that Arthur forgave Guinevere and took her back without knowing that she was enchanted re: Lancelot, we still want the enchantment to be revealed so that Guinevere and Lancelot’s respective honours are restored for posterity’s sake. We also want the enchantment revealed because Arthur and Guinevere need to know that a betrayal of that nature is not in her character. Guinevere also deserves to have her mind and conscience cleared. She has cried quite enough thank you. Equally the people of Camelot deserve to know the truth about their Queen. In addition, Arthur needs to know that someone in his life hasn’t betrayed him and this, we believe, would be pivotal in lessening the blow of Merlin’s betrayal, re: Magic, as the story arc unfolds.

•As to progression of characterization, it is high time that Guinevere and Elyan have a confrontation about his attitude and lack of filial loyalty. She has always been his support system. He completely failed her.

•Now Guinevere appears to have mastered the ‘jug and butt of sword technique of fighting, but it would be hilarious to have a segment where Arthur, successful atau not, attempts to teach Guinevere the basics with a sword. It can work on so many levels, i.e. innuendo, humour and just the plain cute factor. Both actors would bring it off masterfully. Actually, one better, have Guinevere rescue Arthur from a dangerous situation, then have his machismo have to deal with it. After all, he did make fun of Merlin being saved oleh her in series 4.

•Now we preface this statement that we are perfectly aware, the tampil is called Merlin and it is, at core, about the Brother’s of Destiny. However, and this is a huge however, we are sure it is clear, that the lebih ARWENCENTRICLY predisposed the episodes are, the greater the ratings. That has been consistent. Having berkata that, please dispel the notion that we have had since Series 3 that ARWEN are allowed 4 minutes, on a good week 5 minutes, of screen time? Surely it is our collective imagination? It would be nice to have a few lebih episodes with the focus on Arthur and Guinevere and can we possibly allot this relationship some semblance of respect and yes, lebih time each episode? Why? The dynamics are phenomenal and amusingly enough, within the fandom, many, many people pour over their scenes like they are emas dust. That means we are invested a hundred fold. Sometimes just as invested as the Merlin and Arthur dynamic. Both are strengths of the tampil as it matures. Keep in mind, as anda know, berkata audience matures with it. There is much fodder to be had here conversationally re: kingdom, marriage – they are newlyweds after all, magic, just the getting on process of running and yes counselling of a Kingdom in the making, festivities to be had, foreign kingdoms to be accommodated in celebrations, dances, yes, those are part of the dynamic too. We would also like lebih humour and romance period. One thing was also consistent, it would be lovely to have Winter Solstice in Camelot (well, there was no natal so we will settle). Pierrefonds architecturally is exquisite, it would be lovely to see it as a Winter Wonderland.

•We need lebih character development for Guinevere. We want anda to explore Guinevere's character in her new role as Queen, being her strong willed, compassionate self. She needs to be an active voice of the people too, helping to counsel with a divergent view than that of the King. We would also like to see her in crisis. For example, Arthur and Merlin away on a quest and she has to make a decision for the kingdom in Arthur’s absence, under her own auspices as Queen. Oh and finally, the girlie bit. Fabulous dresses for formal occasions. We need at least three fabulous dresses and of course, wonderful hari to day. Did anda miss the bit, that a great many of your viewers are female *chuckle*. We like pretty things.

•A point, perhaps dropped oleh accident, but did not Guinevere’s father make Excalibur, before Merlin had the Great Dragon add a pinch of dash to it? Might wish to resurrect that rather pivotal fact. Again great fodder and an interesting side story for an episode. Whilst we are on the subject of magic. The deleted MAGICAL CONVERSATION between Arthur and Guinevere. Such a lost opportunity for S4. With luck this will be redressed in S5. Why? Goes to character, POV and a bonding mechanism. Both have sustained much loss due to magic. Oh and Arthur and Guinevere to have a conversation about their mothers. In this conversation we would like to find out about Guinevere’s mother’s name and what happened to her, exactly.

•Legend has three, sometimes four sons. Preferably towards the end of the season, God knows what it will do wonders for ratings, we can have Guinevere discover she is pregnant. anda then have the rest of the season to play out that story line in segments, amusing segments actually with the potential for high drama towards the finale.

•We want Guinevere to go on adventures with Arthur, Merlin and the knights on occasion. It would also be lovely to employ the fantastic cast of Knights and get back stories. Please dear God give Percival lebih lines. Gwaine his chic back, and lose the idiocy for the most part. Leon lebih to do other than be almost immortal, lol. Elyan to try to act like a brother, on rare occasions.

•We want Arthur and Merlin’s friendship to develop and mature. We want Arthur to tampil lebih respect for Merlin as an individual. It seems they take two steps meneruskan, ke depan and eight steps backwards perpetually. It is time he be made Court Counsellor/Advisor. He has done so much for Arthur and Camelot and deserves to be promoted based on those merits not just on the fact that he has magic, which Arthur arc-wise remains unaware of. We would also like a wardrobe change for Merlin and a cinta interest for him, since anda clearly have no intentions of bringing back the lovely Freya.

•We want Arthur and Guinevere to find out about Merlin's magic together. We would also like Arthur to figure this out a little on his own before the reveal and for him to witness magic being used for good in front of him. It doesn’t have to be from Merlin, in particular, but it might help prepare him for finding out about Merlin if he actually saw magic being used for good for once.

•We want to see Merlin's life apart from Arthur. We often feel that all he does is protect Arthur and we would like to see his life outside of that role. While we livingly adore Merlin and Arthur’s friendship and we like the scenes that they have together, we are also curious to learn lebih about them when they are separate from each other.

•Please let Merlin be less secretive selanjutnya year. He says he has such faith and trust in Arthur and it's time for him to tampil it. This isn't even just about him having magic, it's about things like him knowing that Lancelot was a shade atau where Morgana was hiding and not saying anything about it. He's already keeping a mountain of lies from Arthur as it is, please let him stop lying to him.

•More development of Merlin and Guinevere’s friendship and lebih scenes and/or episodes with them working together as Camelot’s resident csi team along with Gaius.

•We want Morgana to learn that Merlin is Emrys and we want a battle between them, with them doing lebih than just making each other fly backwards, it gets tiresome.

•We want Morgana to meet up with other magical people, preferably Mordred atau the Druids, and to have a life outside of plotting against Arthur and the usual finale with Take- Over-CAMELOT idea. Le Fay/Fey is a very interesting character in lore. Have this explored more.

•Arthur to find out the truth about his birth; the real truth.

•We would like queen Annis to return and if Merlin’s mother, Hunith could pindah to Camelot and be on the tampil more, it would be great. In many ways, queen Annis could serve as mentor to Guinevere. We think their dynamic would be fantastic.

•No lebih filler episodes. anda once berkata anda wanted to make movie episodes. Do that if anda must but please do not make fillers and then cram everything into the last two episodes. It leaves massive plot holes and it is not pleasing.

•Longer episodes atau special two jam episodes would be great as well. Also it would be great if the season finales and the season premieres could be two hours long instead of breaking them up into two parts.

•We want to see lebih of the dragons, Kilgharrah and that naughty, naughty Aithusa, who effectively sided with the Saxon’s simply because his Dad was being an absentee father and not teaching him the right way to behave. This is a family show, Merlin needs to be a better parent.

•No lebih storylines of Camelot being invaded oleh Morgana with Arthur, Merlin and company running for their lives, to return at a later tanggal to overcome nearly insurmountable odds to retake Camelot. We’ve had two almost identical series finale (3 and 4) based on this storyline already so we would like a finale that does not entail Camelot being invaded. Yes, we know we are repeating this request.

•No lebih storylines of people that Arthur trusts betraying him and trying to overthrow him. We want Arthur to be cautious and discerning of people like he berkata he wanted to be in 4x13. It is time to mature Arthur’s character so we can see, the Once and Future King in the making.

•We want lebih continuity in the storylines.

•We really enjoyed Molotnikov and Pillai’s directing and want to see them direct lebih episodes. We also want lebih menulis from Watkins, McBrien and Mitchie as we loved the episodes that they wrote.

•Lastly, please stop rationing the kisses.
