This weeks episode to me was OK (I did say good in some komentar but the lebih I see it, well, sorry I can't describe it any better than that.)

What worked for me:
-Uther admitting that he always loved Arthur

-Uther wanting to attend his sons “anniversary of your birth” (I cinta that saying) this scene to me meant that Uther was improving as well

-Gwens reaction to the pisau throwing cinta her facial expressions and cocky Arthur

-love the little banter between Arthur and Merlin re trousers down past his knees

-The sword fight between Uther and the assassin

-The brilliant scene between Uther & Arthur after Uther is stabbed

-Gwen/Arthur scene in Uther's chambers - I loved what he berkata and I definitely loved her reply, also loved his reaction to her reply, I loved how she went towards him when she berkata "Oh Arthur", she wanted to comfort him.

-The way Arthur breaks the pots and tries to hide them under the table, and then diberikan a sapu - the way he sweeps was classic

-Arthur & Merlin at the house in the woods, before dragoon appeared

-Reaction from Merlin when Gaius told Arthur Merlin was in the tavern.

-The powerful scene of Arthur in the hall with his father

-The brilliant scene of the coronation.

What didn't work for me
-I couldn't feel the friendship/connection between Arthur & Merlin that was there in seasons 1-3 I know they have grown but I just couldn't feel anything

-The lack of Gwen - this was a huge moment in Arthur's life and hardly anything from Gwen - I know this episode was about Merlin/Arthur friendship and where magic stands with Arthur, and the tampil is called Merlin, but not to see her give Arthur at least some consolation besides the little bit in the scene I mentioned above, is a bit of a mystery, to me the whole tahun of looking after Uther never existed and neither did telling Lancelot to bring Arthur halaman awal safely, I mean isn’t that what cinta is, so why did her cinta disappear in this episode, at a time when Arthur needed it most. I also believe malaikat was held back to not comfort Arthur, in the scene is when Uther is pronounced dead, she had her hands on her stomach she had an opportune time to do it then, to me it was either two things she was told not to do it, atau it was cut from that scene

-I don't understand what Morgana's role is at the moment, besides using Aunt Aggy, where is the explosive Morgana, I'm waiting to see a strong character, who is able to face Merlin, the Dragon, Arthur, the Knights, and Gwen

-How many assassins are there going to be this season to kill Arthur?

-I guess Arthur is going to be knocked out a few lebih times

-Still unsure how I feel about Dragoon in this episode

Performances
-Bradley James just keeps getting better and better with every episode, I take my hat off to him, his scenes with ASH were brilliant, & with malaikat I cinta their chemistry they up their akting when together, and some with Colin were OK

-Angel the little screen time she had was memorable

-Colin was great, except I didn’t feel it with Dragoon, atau some scenes with Bradley

-Tony Head the man is brilliant

Tigerlily888 I agree with most of it actually-a really good review! The apple scene was hilarious! :) and the old hut scene where Arthur went "YOU?!" and the old guy (Merlin) did that nose thing! :)) haha!

Melisey I thought I was the only one. I love my BROTP and I liked the scene where Merlin was there for Arthur outside the door all night. But other than that it was a little too much in that episode. And it was lacking something. Maybe it was because I found the focus to be too much on them. I know it is important for future character development. But still it kind of ruined the whole Arthur loosing his father aspect for me. What saved it was Bradley's acting and Arthur's emotions. I also agree with what you said about Morgana.

EpicArwen Loved your review!! And agree wholeheartedly. You mentioned something that I thought was another reason it seemed disjointed -- there was no flow or connection from the previous eps to this. Now, with Merlin, I'm pretty used to that kind of stuff, but it eneded on such a dramatic note last time and then just seemed to be forgotten here. It very well may be that it'll come back -- I'm actually pretty sure it will -- but having lost Lance and now his father, that 'losing loved ones' connection should have been made, but wasn't. Anyway...awesome review!! :)

Bonne-Bell Great review. I feel the same way about this episode. I also have to add that I didn't like the repetition of lines from previous episodes.

yawdy37 Loved your review. This wasn't a time for dragoon. The seriousness of the topic needed to be dealt with in a tone that befits the topic. The first part the injury to Uther was great with the banter between Arthur and Merlin. After Uther was injured it went a little downhill except for Uther and Arthur's emotional dialogs. Gwen and the knights should have been written to show more emotional support. The writers or the powers that be missed a great opportunity to show a stronger bond between the future king and queen. We already know that Merlin and Arthur can banter, have great fun, and be empathetic towards each other. They needed this opportunity to developed Gwen and Arthur's relationship and they missed. I know it will probably happen in future episodes but they missed a great opportunity here.

EPaws Yes, I agree with all the comments above but Yawdy's statement about missed opportunity is bang on. Fantastic review, Jen. As you already know. I could not agree more.

Angleberry I agree with the review. Yawdy37 you are spot on, i spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was missing and hit on Dragoon, that was off. Acting however was great on all points, it was the story line that was dodgy.

tmko I pretty much agree with your review. Except I liked Dragoon, particularly his voice. The very first time Dragoon appeared I thought his voice was just stupid sounding. This episode was better but Colin did slip into young Merlin voice once. I thought it was odd and disappointing that Gwen did not do more to comfort Arthur! And there was not a better reaction to the crowning of Arthur ( from Gwen) (Perhaps if Julian Jones had written the episode things would have been different.. better) I think the opportunity for Gaius to exposed Morgana for being the reason Uther died was there but not taken. Arthur knows Morgana is evil, therefore he would have believed she was responsible and Agravaine would not even need to be implicated. -I was frustrated that Morgana was not mentioned as Arthur's enemy! Also, this episode felt really short!.
