The instant the green flag dropped, Browning jumped on the gas and made his first pindah of the race: A pass on the number 12 Scuderia Ferrari of Risi Competizione. The driver of that car, a Todd Corey, failed to block the Maserati from passing. He slotted in right behind the 97 car and the two of them would soon be involved in a rivalry that would last the entire race.

Sweets, in her number 07 car, immediately found herself caught behind the Lotus that had begun the race ahead of her and was unable to pass him. He seemed to be able to read her mind, blocking her left and right every time she made a move. Her inability to pass him soon annoyed her to no end and she resolved to pass him the first time he made a mistake.

Phil Loth in the 89 car was already taking the race oleh storm. He'd passed 4 cars within fifteen detik and was soon proving himself a worthy Britcar competitor.

*2:12 PM*

A little over two hours into the race, the Wolfpack cars were scattered throughout the field of supercars, being unable to group together and act as a team. Loth was leading the class race, but had allowed some of the Le Mans style cars to pass him, a smart move. He was a truly gifted driver, and when an Audi, the number 36 R8 GTS of Daniel Lucas tried to pass him oleh taking the outside line in turn 8, he sent the 89 Maserati into a nicely controlled drift that forced the audi off the road. There was no crash and no caution, but that event marked the start of a detik inter-car rivalry.

In the 07 car, things were going horribly for Sweets. Thus far in the race, she'd already blown a tire and had made a huge error in braking that allowed three cars to pass.

*3:22 PM*

The first significant crash of the race occurred almost three and a half hours into the race. One of the audi racing cars had locked up the wheels and when they unlocked, the back end snapped around and collided with a Porsche. That Porsche had been flung sideways off the track and into the guardrail, flipped onto its roof, and slid back onto the track and smashed into a Lamborghini Le Mans car. That car had merely been forced hard into the wall, where it slumped down, its front axle and suspension destroyed beyond repair. The audi that had started the wreck was fairly well off, having only sustained mild rear end damage. The Porsche, however, was a total writeoff. The entire aerodynamics package had been torn from the car and scattered across the racing surface, littering the track with shards of carbon fiber and chunks of the flat six engine. All three drivers were physically unharmed, their pride not so much.
Phil was the first to come upon the wreck, and upon seeing the debris covering the course ahead of him, stood on his brakes. The carbon ceramic rotors glowed a bright red as his Maserati braked down from nearly a hundred and eighty miles in hour.

With the other two WPMS cars, the news of the crash came in over the radio from Katherine Gies, wife of Jon Gies. She was the teams spotter and coordinator, and she was the one that directed the cars on the track when to block and when to press the advantage. She had seen the wreck from her vantage point and immediately directed the 97 and 07 cars to make a speedy run through pit lane before they closed it.
