Well. Some mummies are paraded around the world like bags of potatoes for a bunch of people to stare at and go, "OOOOOH! MUMMY!!!", but most are still stuck in the sand, and others are put in museums, so, again, people can stare and go, "OOOOH! MUMMY!!!"

So. They don't do much.

In the halloween world I believe they lumber with their arms stretched...in the real world they lie in bogs, walls, caves, pyramids, museums etc. and just be dead.

I don't think mummies do anything.... I can't think of a single thing they do. The only thing I can come up with is giving anda a curse if anda steal their treasure.

That depends....
The Egyptians would preserve the body of their kings and other nobles in a process known as mummification, the would remove various organs such as the heart, brain, ECT and put them in jars with the thought that the mummy would need those organs later when it comes back alive, after all that was the thought. That was purely religious however the bodies of the mummified are usually rather well preserved diberikan how long they have been around, this provides a lot of good data for historians. So one can say that all Mummies do is provide historical data to be studied.

Now a lot of film would show, what if one of these mummies DID come back alive as the Egyptians thought. That depends of course on a number of things, would their bodies be restored to how it was before? If yes then they would likely start a revolt in modern Egypt and they would likely gain power and instal the same government as the kind the River valley Egypt had, they would kick islam out of Egypt and instal themselves as a god, and what happens after that will depend on the personality, atau they would fail at trying and be killed a detik time then the body would be deposed of probably in a fire.
If their bodies were in the condition they where as found, rotten, they would be unable to support life and the dead king would die again instantly.

In ancient Egyptian belief, the body of the deceased was preserved so it wouldn't rot because when that person was in the underworld, the ba atau the ka (I can't remember which... I've been slacking off on my ancient Egypt research... But it's like a soul, I guess.) could still have something to tie them to the physical world when they were in the afterlife. atau something like that but I can't remember.

Sorry for the nerdy, serious answer. (Okay, I'm not really that sorry.) But hey, I'm just sayin' the truth because unlike zombies and vampires, mummies are actually real.

I thought the pharohs were preserved so that they would be recognized in the afterlife where they could be judged for their actions in life. ((FELLOW NERDS UNITE!))

^ I think something like that was part of it, too. But I don't think it was just for pharaohs, because some commoners were mummified, too.

Yeah, I think Imhotep was mummified due to his importance in Egypt. I'm sure others were mummified also.
