Our Crush On Jack Skellington Is Real

. The Pumpkin King is the face of Halloween Town’s favorite holiday and really knows how to rock a black pin-striped suit, complete with a bat bowtie. We admire his confidence, childlike sense of wonder, and his ability to admit that he didn’t quite have the whole Christmas thing figured out. We would happily explore the hinterlands and adventure into all of the holiday towns by his side, or join in a ghoulish duet in the cemetery. You could say we’re simply meant to be. Jack Skellington is a king, the Pumpkin King to be exact.

Everyone loves royalty. While the Mayor is technically the leader of Halloween Town, it’s clear that Jack is the leader that the people (and skeletons, demons, and otherworldly creatures) need.

He can sing, he can dance, he can wear a striped suit with flair.

Jack’s an entertainer, and all of the ladies in Halloween Town know it. They shower him with compliments we can’t help but agree with: “You’re such a scream, Jack!” “You’re a witch’s fondest dream!” “Jack, you make wounds ooze and flesh crawl!” Indeed.

Alas, poor Jack! A fellow of infinite jest. He’s not quite so entertaining while lamenting in the graveyard of his Halloween induced ennui. However, he does use his own head to recreate a famous Shakespearean scene, and that makes our warm, beating hearts skip a beat or two.

We imagine that if Jack were to list out his ideal qualities in a creepy crush from the crypt it would likely include “must love dogs.” He is a top notch dad to his ghostly canine, Zero, and that is adorable.

When Jack comes across a mysterious door, he doesn’t just knock, he opens it and tumbles in skull first. We like a skeleton with a taste for adventure, and his toothy grin is pretty darn cute.

For a skeleton, Jack has some stellar dance moves.

In “What’s This?” Jack lunges, twirls, and leaps through Christmas Town. The joy of our favorite holidays ignites the same passion within us. Maybe Jack can teach us how to prance?

misguided. We aren’t completely thrilled at the idea of tearing open a box that contains shrunken heads, Christmas tree-eating snakes, or vampire teddy bears, but it’s the thought that counts.

Jack likes to read up on matters that spark his interest. We wouldn’t mind grabbing our library cards and swinging by the Halloween Town local library for date night.

In addition to his other talents, Jack also has an interest in science.

In the next frame, he accidentally smashes the slide and we discover he has been intently studying a cranberry. Don’t think about that though, just appreciate his relentless curiosity and search for understanding!

Like most great leaders, Jack understands that it’s important to share breaking news with the community. He gives a detailed explanation of Christmas to the townspeople, and his misconception of Santa Claus as Sandy Claws is endearing (if slightly misguided).

We’re taking some liberties with this one, as Lock, Shock, and Barrel are a trio of mischievous trick-or-treaters. Nonetheless, Jack attempts to level with them, and we like that.

His musical skills add a special something to the Halloween Town band.

Jack knows what he wants and how he’s going to accomplish it. He’s a skeleton in charge.

He’s willing to admit when he made mistakes and talk about his feelings.

Jack may be self-centered at times, and can be a little headstrong,  but at the end of the day, he’s willing to admit that he’s not perfect—and that he’s had a best friend by his side all along.
