What was the purpose of "The Door"?

Was it to merely trick the survivors in to believing there was a DHARMA station in The Others' decoy village? Was "The Door" ever a real DHARMA station, even if it were elsewhere and they simply moved the doorway? Was it on the blast door map?

It was believed that the door was an abandoned DHARMA station that construction began on, but was not completed because of flooding. This is based off the blast door map.
