whats the saddest part in the lord of the rings?

The end. Simply because it ended.

There are many sad parts in Lord o the Rings, but I must say that at the very end, when Frodo has to leave Middle Earth forever, that is the saddest part. Sam's eyes fill up with tears and anda just want to bawl your eyes out because it is sooo sad.

I would have to say that the saddest part in Lord of the Rings is when Frodo tells Sam to leave in the third one.The look of absolute despair on Sam's face is heartrending,and it's so awful to see Frodo's head infiltrated oleh the evil of the ring.Sam and Frodo have gone through so much together that it's hard to believe Frodo could actually tell him to go away.

My thought is when Boromir died only to protect those two hardly useful halflings.

For me it's when Merry and Pippin get separated because they've never been apart and then they don't know if they'll see each other again - it still makes me cry when i watch it now

Whenever Frodo is sad. Tolkien gives the viewers 'feelings' about the characters. Luckily no person on Frodo`s team dies, exept for Boromir, but he didn`t exactly care about Frodo.
