My friend says that there is a Greek god called Nike and that he is the god of sports atau something like that...is it true?

Athene goddess of wisdom,war, weaving etc. is sometimes known as Athene Nike meaning victorious Athene that is where Nike comes in. However there are also little spirits atau nymphs called nikes which assist Athene in her role as Athene Nike they are not gods atau godesses though.
