is already in the latter half of Season 6. The series is set to air Episode 9 "The Battle Of The Bastards" this Sunday, and in a recent interview, Liam Cunningham revealed that this weekend\'s big episode may be the most talked about, ever. In fact, the actor who plays Ser Davos believes that "The Battle of the Bastards" will be the most talked about episode in
In my opinion, Miguel, David and Dan have exceeded what I saw on the pre-viz. It\'s possibly going to be the most talked about episode of the entire story, of any season. I can\'t tell you the air of expectation I have on this. I have every confidence that it\'s going to be as magnificent as what I saw being filmed.
We\'ve already seen a little footage from the episode, thanks to the official trailer for "The Battle of The Bastards" and a second, fan-made one that combines every key piece of footage leading to the big face-off between Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton.
Everything about this episode looks completely epic. Hundreds of extras were on hand to film the sequences, and Liam Cunningham also mentioned to THR that it took nearly a month just to shoot the big battle and that mud was present nearly the entire time, adding a gritty element to the already tough-looking battle sequences. To give you an idea of the scope and the scale of the episode, the actor had this to say about
Just to give a bit of background, we were brought in by Miguel and those involved --- and this would have been probably late summer of last year --- and they had the pre-viz and storyboards. I remember when they showed it to us, it was like a Hollywood blockbuster. It was something you would expect from a $200 million movie. I remember having a joke with Miguel at the time, saying, \'Well, you\'re aiming pretty low here, aren\'t you?\' We were both laughing about it, but he said, \'We\'re going to see if we can get as much of that as we possibly can.\'
The whole thing has been called a nightmare to shoot. Still, the tougher something is, the better the final product often looks. Plus, we won\'t have too much longer to wait. "The Battle of the Bastards" airs Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET, only on HBO. In addition, you can check out what we know about the upcoming Season 7, here.
