5x04: Princess Mithian and king Odin return. Arthur vows to help. Morgana (disguised as an old woman) plots Camelot's destruction.
5x05: Mordred's life is in danger. Arthur is willing to deal to save his life, as he feels like he owes him now.
5x06: The one where Gwen is kidnapped by Morgana. Gwen is tortured. Morgana puts a spell on her.
5x07: An assassin is amidst a group of visiting guests from an enemy land looking to sign peace with Camelot. Gwen, under Morgana’s spell, stirs up some trouble ---> Lord Bayard? Queen Mab?
5x08: Merlin takes a young Druid under his wing ---> I guess that's Daegal (Alfie Stewart), the young man in brown clothes that Merlin protects and who can be seen sneaking into the castle.
5x09: This one marks the end of the “enchanted Gwen” storyline. Merlin is the one to undo the spell but he needs to recruit the help of Alator.
5x10: This one is centered around Gwen. No more details are given ---> Gwen and Elyan adventure one?
5x11: This one is deficed as “calm before the storm”. No more details are given ----> Gwen/Arthur picnic episode, random lady being hanged?
5x12: The storyline with Gwaine’s treacherous girlfriend is just a front of sorts for the real plot that will set up part 2 (ep 5x13).
5x13: Merlin goes to the crystal cave again to try and see the future but could he change a tragic future from taking place?
PS. I wonder if anyone will notice Gwen is missing (while being tortured) and thus creating questions of her suspicious behavior. Will they suspect Morgana or just think Gwen has gone off the deep end? I guess we'll see! AND I HOPE THERE IS SOME KIND OF ARWEN REUNION ONCE GWEN IS BACK TO NORMAL! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE!
I also hear episode 10 may be the focus on her and Elyan, and some speculate about the death of Elyan. If so, that will be another hard thing for Gwen, which for me makes her even more of a heroine in this story, as she's like those historical figures who you hear about who come out of tragedy after tragedy, with their honor and dignity unscathed. I could say a lot more but gotta run again.
I am happy that it seems that we will be getting Gwen heavy episodes in the future, even if it means having Morgana involved in the storyline. Angel deserves some good screen time. While I have no doubt that Arthur will notice his wife missing in episode 6, I am worried that in their stupid need to dumb down Arthur, the show runners will have him be totally oblivious to fact the fact that his queen is enchanted. I really hope they don't go down that road. To have Gwen's own husband, someone she shares living quarters and a bed with, be clueless when she starts acting against character will be asinine and unrealistic. Husbands should, and do know their wives better than anyone else. To have Arthur roaming about, wondering if Gwen is PMSing as she causes mischief in her enchanted state will have me screaming at my TV screen like a crazed person. Arthur, not Merlin or Gaius or Elyan has to be the one to come to the realization that something is wrong with Gwen. Anything else would not make any logical sense IMO.
By the way, i read on tv.com, and another site that a main knight doesn't live pass episode 7. I am on the train, and on my Ipad so i don't have the link with me, it is somewhere on my computer. I thought the knight that dies was Elyan since no one saw him in Pierrefonds this September, but then I read on tv.com that Elyan is in episode 10. If that information is correct, then who dies? I believe that there were pictures of Leon, Gwaine and Percival during September shooting in Pierrefonds. I am at a lost as to who it could be. Unless they kill Mordered off between episodes 5-7, and have morgana bring him back to life as a vengeful figure who blames Arthur for his death. Thus setting up the battle at Camlann between Arthur and Mordred.
Elyan will buy it. No question. Could he be a ghost perhaps, you know how fond this show of resurrection, ie Ygraine, Uther, etc etc? Mordred is the other likely choice for all the reasons you stipulate, slight twist on the usual boring theme of oh look lunatic fringe is trying another tactic.
Hate to say this, Lucerne, but to carry the plot they may just have Arthur be at a loss about his wife's strange behavior, thinking she's stressed from her ordeal or something. I'm afraid the writing of Arthur is the thing that I most struggle with these days, so I don't expect him to react like any other husband. Especially after his reactions to his father last week. I know what you mean though. He should AT LEAST notice she's acting strange even if he can't figure out why, unless the spell is such that she acts normal around him and does all her mischief covertly like Morgana used to do. Put up a front around the castle and be all sweetness, but behind everybody's back doing her other thing....
Thanks for the information, Lucerne. If the storyline of Gwaine's girlfriend is just a front then I wonder what the real plot is going to be. It has to be something major for them to create a cover for it. Hope it's the magic reveal.
Okay something different to run by you. Do you realize they are trying desperately to shore up Merthur this year? It has gone totally flat because of the men in question playing it. Over it and boy does it show.
Having said that, the four arc episode of Guinevere being enchanted is another ploy to keep the romantic aspects of arwen at bay so that they can try to keep Merthur going. Yes, you heard me. That is the point of it, so if you count, the first four episodes, yes I consider this weeks as well as no arwen romantically and then you begin the other with the enchantment that makes 8 then you have the one with her brother that makes 9 and we are most of the way through the season, 11 and 12 will be Merlin and the Crystal Cave and Mordred.
10 will be the only Guinevere episode.
Then again, a few of us could well be quite wrong. This time I want to be.
This has been my take on that whole Arwen in Season 5 thing. I didn't expect "Arwen" episodes, and didn't even want them. Arwen episodes always had to do with the relationship itself and some turmoil over it. Always these were A/G having someone coming in to put a wedge into their romance, or worst to kill it. These episodes were always Gwen in particular, and both of them going through anguish over something that had happened to tear them apart. I've always considered 3x06 to fall into that category as well. IMO, 3x07 and 4x08 sort of had an Arwen focus where the two were drawn together more than driven apart. Though 4x08 was a setup for the horrors of 4x09.
ANYWAY, I said ALL that to say I wasn't hoping for an Arwen episode per se, but was hoping that because they're married, all the forces to drive them apart would be behind them, but whatever trials they had would be stuff they would face together. I was hoping the relationship would not be a focus as it is in Arwen episodes, but we see Arwen mixed in throughout everything else. Even when they're apart, it's not because of relationship issues, but stuff they're still facing as a couple. Hope that makes sense, as it took me forever to say it, lol.
I'm thrilled with the return of Alator and the crystal cave. But another death? I'd be glad if the death happens to be gaius and not any knight. I personally feel gaius's storyline is losing its plot so there's no reason they should keep him around but the knights are important and elyan is the only family gwen has ... :(
Well, we just have to wait and find out i suppose.
Anyway, Lucerne ... thanks so much. Love it girl.
