I tried with some text on both of them, but neither looked any good...

Personally, I like the negative space better than the writing, so its not that big of a deal for me. I'll see if I can make a version that looks ok with a the writing, but honestly it just makes the banners look really stupid. I might try a quote or something, but I can't promise it'll be any better.
