The new role marks Mamet’s first TV appearance since HBO\'s “Girls” ended its six-season run in April.
It hasn’t been long, but it’s already been too long: Zosia Mamet, who brought Shoshanna to life in HBO’s “Girls,” returns to TV next week for a guest appearance in FXX’s comedy “You’re the Worst.”
Mamet will star as Gretchen’s (Aya Cash) estranged best friend from childhood, Heidi, and the two reconnect while Heidi is back in town visiting family.
“Zosia Mamet is playing an old figure in Gretchen’s life who runs a roller skating rink,” creator Stephen Falk said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “I’ll just say that. So there’s a lot of roller skating.”

Given Gretchen’s history with female friends (and friends in general), getting a bit of backstory on one of her first should prove fascinating. Plus, it’s always fun to witness Mamet embody a new role.
The episode airs next Wednesday, October 11, at 10 p.m. ET and is titled “Not a Great Bet.” Take a look at the first-look pictures of Mamet below, released as an exclusive to IndieWire.
“You’re the Worst” is currently airing its fourth season and is a story of love and happiness told through the eyes of Gretchen and Jimmy (Chris Geere), a self-destructive duo who haven’t been lucky when it comes to relationships. Set in Los Angeles, “You’re the Worst” is a fresh take on the romantic comedy genre.

On this week’s episode — which airs tonight on FXX — Edgar (Desmin Borges) takes Jimmy on a “man date” to try to connect with him; Gretchen finds out some startling news about the new guy she has been seeing, and Lindsay (Kether Donohue) tries to be social at work and make friends.
