Spelling is important.
Grammar is important.
Especially when involving words…

In today’s world, written word is growing lebih and lebih common. With the fairly baru saja introduction of text messaging, email, IM services, social networks, and online self publishing (which is what we’re all doing here on fanpop when we post articles, and what I am mainly addressing), it is not only important how your words sound, it’s just as important, if not lebih so, how they look.

link* to me, some people seem to believe that spelling and grammar is not at all important in these self publications.
Just to daftar a few examples I’ve come across:

" so what if [your spelling] is wrong it just mean that u r menulis this from ur jantung and not really caring about the spelling"

This, I can see this person’s point, but that is what a rough rough draft is for. (I don’t know if rough rough is the proper term, but that’s what my 12th grade English teacher called it)

" dont tell me what to do. A lot of people cinta my articles....they dont care if things are spelt wrong....your not wiser, atau smarter then me soo leave me alone. "

This, I find to be very ignorant.

Yet another one.
" o wow come on who cares if her spelling is messed up!"
Please, let me tell you.

(I have quoted three different people. I’m not targeting anyone)

Why spelling is important:
Spelling can be defined as a code that uses letter sequences to represent specific words that have an associated pronunciation and meaning within the mental dictionary.

As stated above, how your words look is very important. Your eyes need to actually see this code before your brain can decode it.
Some people read strictly for the content (newspaper atau magazine article, movie review, and so on), but many other people (many people on Fanpop) read to feel something. To get into the writers mind and truly relate to the story. membaca around typos and misspellings is very annoying and takes a little too much lebih effort than it’s worth. It makes anda think to yourself,
If the penulis doesn’t care enough about what he/she is saying, then why should I even bother membaca this?
NONE of us want that.

Some of anda may consider bringing up this little item:
“I cluod not blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid. Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch sudty at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and anda can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter oleh istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas thgouht slpeling was ipmorantt.“

I admit, this isn’t the most difficult thing to read, but it’s not the most enjoyable thing to read either. As a writer, anda don’t want people to just read your stories. anda want them to enjoy the experience and feel the urge to do it again and again.

The difference between a spelling error and a typo:

A typo is generally an accident, such as anda hit the wrong key oleh mistake, whereas a spelling error is, in a way, intentional. anda honestly believe the word is spelled a certain way, when in reality, it’s not.

Example:

I always feel ridiculed when users komentar on my horrible spelling.

Typo: I alwsys feel ridiculed when users commment on my horrible spelling.

Notice how on the keyboard, the s is right selanjutnya to the a. This is a simple mistake I’ve seen almost everyone make. Adding an extra letter, atau leaving one out is also very common, along with reversing the order of two letters.

Spelling error: I always feel ridaculed when users komentar on my horrable spelling.

There’s not really any simple slip of the finger that would justify this. None that I can see atau understand, at least.

When speaking, spelling means absolutely nothing, but when writing, it makes all the difference in the world.

I was going to include why grammar is important as well, but I feel I’ve been typing forever, so I’ll end it here.

*I only did that because I cinta The Killers.
Last summer I went to Los Angeles to stay with my cousin for a few weeks. One afternoon we were having lunch in a nice restaurant in the centre of the town when my cousin got a call on her mobile phone and went outside to talk. While she was speaking to her friend,I suddenly noticed a man in a black hat who was sitting at the selanjutnya table. It was the actor Johnny Depp!He was alone, and I decided to take my chance. So I got up and went to his table:'Excuse me,could I have my foto taken with you?'I asked. He berkata yes,so I stopped a waitress who was passing oleh and gave her my camera. She took the foto of me and Johnny,I thanked them both, and then I returned to my table. When my cousin came back,I smiled.'Why are anda looking so pleased with yourself?'she asked.
'I had my foto taken with Johnny Depp.'
'Johnny Depp?Where is he?'
'He's sitting over there.Look!'
She turned around to look and then started to laugh.
'That's not Johnny Depp!'I looked at the man in the black hat-he was laughing too.

I work for a magazine, which was doing an artikel about British language learners. As an experiment, they asked me to learn a completely new language for one month. Then I had to go to the country and do some"tests"to see if I could"survive"in different situations.I decided to learn Polish because my great-grandmother was Polish and I have some relatives there.I can already speak French and Spanish quite well but Polish isn't a latin-based language so I knew it would be completely different.

I did a one-month intensive course at a language school in Birmingham.I thought I was good at languages before...

Mick Jagger went back to his old school recently-for the first time since he left in 1961.He was invited to the school to open the 'Mick Jagger Performing Arts centre',a new musik and drama department at Dartford Grammar School.

Jagger berkata that he was 'honoured' that the centre was name after him.But in a newspaper interview 2 days before he told the journalist that in fact he hated school and that he used to be a rebel.

He didn't use to do the homework-'there was far too much'-and he was continually at war with the teachers. He used to break the rules all the time, especially rules he thought...

anda held up your labu spice finger,

With a playful wink,

Your sweetness saved me several times,

When I was on the brink,

The warmth within your spritely smile,

Allowed me to be real,

Your cinnamon and sugar hugs

They taught me how to feel.

I'd run down to the coffee shop,

So I could see your face.

You've seen me at my happiest,

You've seen me in disgrace.

And though you're always beaming,

Still I feel the need to say,

It's okay if anda have some days,

Where your spice fades away.
They unexpectedly hugged for a short while.
“Wait, anda know each other?” asked shocked Marlene.
“Yes” berkata Skipper “But, I thought anda were... died, on mission: stop Blowhole.
“Most of us, yes, but only I and few other alive”
“Wait” berkata Kowalski shook of the shock “That was mission, from which anda got a letter that everybody died?”
“Yes” only this word Skipper could say “How did anda survive?”
“I don’t know, maybe because we were stronger than the others. That was hard mission and we all had to die for success of mission. We had to blow up Blowhole’s lab, but we...

*NOTE* I had to change the town of Cayden's and BJ's town. Las Vegas, NM is too far away from Big Spring, TX and it didn't fit with the storyline.
It's now Carlsbad, NM.

Chapter 22

Bone walked into the police station of a small town on the border of Texas and New Mexico. He had become what he feared most…a monster. And now he was hunting down the only person that was a threat to him. He was naked except for his deer skin pants and serigala pelt around his shoulders. His hair had become thick and shaggy; everywhere he went now people feared him.
You should fear me...
A young deputy greeted him, “Need...

Chapter 2 - New Boy

I was hyperventilating as my malaikat walked past me on to his first class. He walked into the door of Mr. Emmi’s class, which was also my first class. I learned that my malaikat name is Stefan. His sisters names were Colleen and Carmen. His brothers, Jacob and Leo.
His voice was heavenly. Sweet and daring. He walked to the last empty desk. It was beside me. I moved my tas, dompet from off the desktop and smiled at him politely. His answering smile made me hyperventilate again. I could have sworn I heard him chuckle.
    We...

After eating breakfast Jacob and I went up to our room to get dressed. Finding the closet was pretty easy because there are only two doors in our room, the bathroom and the closet. “Oh. My. Gosh. Alice went way over board with this.” Jacob berkata in a normal tone. I walked over and looked in the closet and she did. It was the size of my parents bedroom back at there house. Jacob and I had our own sides. Aunt Alice hadn’t put any of Jake’s atau my clothes in the closet she bought all new clothes for us. We walked in to find something simple to wear but that was impossible with Aunt Alice...

Asleep and sound. Relaxed in my own mind and comfort, yet this shaking and jolting of my body is annoying. Opening up my eyes, seeing my brat sister made me loose that comfort. I was looking at her angrily saying,"Do anda mind? I was perfectly relaxed listening to The Crystal Ship, and now you've ruined that for me!" Rolling her serpent like green eyes she replied,"We're here at the airport. We're meeting our guides here to help us not die in the jungle. Oh and oleh the way, we have to go oleh bus to get near the jungle and walk on the way there, so prepare yourself." She walked away with her friends,...

I woke up the selanjutnya day, and I didn't see Howl on the balcony. I didn't know where he was at. I looked around for him, and then he just popped up behind me just like that! "Howl, anda gotta stop doing that! anda scared me!" "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make my queen unhappy." There he went again. The queen thing. It's sweet, but....odd. Maybe that's just his way of calling me his girlfriend.

Earlier, I showed Howl where the mandi, shower was at, and how to use it, since he's never used an actual mandi, shower before. He calls it a waterfall, since the only thing he's used to clean himself. I left him alone...
