Why do people write fanfiction?

It sounds to me like their just being unoriginal. I don't understand why anyone would write something that's not theirs. Isn't it funner (?) to dig into your own imagination!?

It's not necessarily "funner" to do either or. Fun is a subjective term that isn't the same for every single person.

For some (like myself) fanfiction is a great menulis exorcise. There's already an existing world, with built characters and rules, so I can focus on different ways to work plots, plan stories, and just work on making my menulis stronger in general.

For some, it's just a way to kill the time, to kill the infamous "writer's block" that cramps their original stories. For others, it's just for fun.

Also, menulis fanfiction isn't unimaginative. The writer is still working with their own plots; sometimes their own characters; their own interpretations of the world, rules, and characters; and is using their own, unique menulis style to tie it all together.

true, but im not agreeing im just saying it makes u feel prouder of ur work if u make it up urself i write fan fiction as an exercise, nothing else but still would u like it if someone took ur charectors and changed the plot around?

First off, authors can say "don't write fanfiction about my work" and then no one can legally do so. Anne nasi, beras is one them ( there's also a whole daftar on Ff.net of authors who don't want fanfiction written about their work). Some authors (like JK Rowling) actually *enjoy* when people write fanfiction about them. I, personally, wouldn't care. Secondly, much like "fun", "proud" is a subjective term. Some would feel *just* as proud to finish a fanfiction as they would a novel. And, for the detik time, people *are* making things up themselves. They *still* come up with their own plots, resolutions, climaxes, characters, rules, and interpretations.

To put it simply, some writers lack imagination sometimes. An imagination drought if anda will. Now, are anda saying if we lack inspiration we should stop menulis altogether? I don't think so. Besides, if anda wanna get technical, we are being original because when we write, we're just borrowing characters, setting, etc, but NOT ideas. Most of the fanfictions are original because of the simple fact that our ideas are original. Not even the famous authors of these buku thought of of what we have. Good answer? :)

Because anda want to write a story about your favourite tv characters doing what anda have always wanted them to do and in addition anda can imagine yourself in the story. Always fun and to be honest easier to do than work out your own characters.

I think we ARE digging into our own imagination with fanfictiin. I grew up watching TV, and I cinta the characters from my favorit shows. I think it's really fun to be able to write for my favorit characters, to see them do things they've never done and be with people they've never been with. Are we being unoriginal? I don't think so. The characters may not be from our imagination, but the plots are, the ideas are, and the dialouge is. If I cinta a book atau a TV tampil enough-- if I cinta the characters enough-- then I cinta thinking up fanfics about them. I can understand certain character better after I write about them. That's why I write fanfiction, anyway. :)

Fanfictionists (as I like to call them) are either very obsessed with a story already made and want to bring in their own contribution that'll never actually be true but its the closest to it atau that they have little imagination and feed off already made storylines to make 'pretend' stories of their own.

Well, I'm just starting out, so I'm still working on coming up with my own ideas. I write fan fiction for practice, I find it a bit fun to recreate my favorit buku and anime, but I'm working on menulis my own work. I write it for practice, just to test out my skills, almost like a warm-up before getting into the big leagues.

I myself do not write fanfiction, but I think that when people read books, but things don't turn out exactly as one had hoped (ex. two people who anda wanted to end up together didn't, which seems to be a fairly common fanfic), people write their own alternative ending. atau if some character atau event really intrigued someone, but they didn't get to learn as much about what happened as they would have liked (ex. the death of a major character, the mentioning of a big event, if the main characters have kids, etc.), they write their own interpretations of what happens.

I agree, I prefer menulis out of my own imagination, but for some people, it may be good to write based off of someone else's book. As long as they don't themselves to menulis based off of other people's work, I think there's nothing wrong with it. I mean, I cinta to draw fanart, but I draw my own stuff as well. Is drawing fanart lack of imagination? To some extent, possibly. But I do draw my own people and my own settings as well, which is certainly not a lack of imagination. As long as I don't myself to relying on other people's work. (And even so, fanfiction (as well as fanart) does have some imagination in it, if anda think about it! It's the reader's interpretations, and they are imagining their own way for things to happen. So while I agree with anda to some extent, I think it's perfectly fine, as long as anda don't yourself to relying on other people's work).

(And I believe they finally made funner a word! Yay! ^_^)

anda can write fanfiction for various reasons, to practise, just for fun etc. At times it's just playing around with the characters, atau it might be to "fix" something that happened atau didn't happen.
Sure, some fanfics are unoriginal, but there are those which are very well-written and imaginative, with respect for the characters and rules of that world. Things come down to what anda want with your writing, and I don't think fanfiction as a whole should be looked down on.

Even menulis fanfiction anda still are digging into your own imagination...sometimes when you're having trouble fleshing out your original stories it helps to take something that the characters and setting are already developed and play with them for a while before going back to your own characters.

I'm a fanfiction writer and I believe its because every one wants to read fanfiction, like the obvious most populer fanfiction, Harry Potter fanfiction is very populer everyone wants to read it I have one of my own and it is definatley the most populer out of all my other writing. I believe its because the story ended and people want to grip onto something so its still there and every one wants to put their own twist on the story, and some want to change the way the story ended mostly I think. But I don't think its because of a lack of imagination.

Because they don't want their fandom to end, atau they feel creative and write an alternate ending to the fandom for fun. It doesn't mean they're unoriginal. They cinta that fandom so much and feel as if they're a part of it's world, and they like to create new ideas about it. Also, some people write Fanfiction to fill in the gaps. For example, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the readers were spontaneously introduced to several new characters in the epilogue, and as a result decided to write Fanfiction on how those characters interacted atau how the kids were brought up. It's fun to write your own stories and create your own world and set of characters, but it's also fun to cinta a world anda never created and expand your ideas on it.

Okay, fan fiction writer here. I can see your point of view, but please take a look at mine.
I was inspired oleh a book I read (Harry Potter), and I kept on thinking "Oh, what if this had happened, atau that...". anda know, that kind of stuff. And then I found fanfiction.net. That was the place where I learned everything about fan fiction. That website is full of budding authors. fan fiction is like a stepping stone for menulis your own story.
