Rainkit awoke in the nursery selanjutnya to his sister, Pantherkit. Rainkit moved closer to his mother, LizardStripe.He looked at his mother. He realized he looked nothing like his mother. Rainkit was a different pelt color, and had different eyes. Rainkit was sure that Sparrowtail was their father. Pantherkit looked lebih like him.

PantherKit squirmed in the nest. Then she woke up. "Why are anda up so early?"
Rainkit stared at her. "Lizardstripe isn't our mother."

"Are anda a stupid furball?" She spat. "Everyone knows that! She doesn't look like us!"

Rainkit flinched at her tone. "I might know who our mother is." He announced. "But if she is in our clan, why would they hide our true mother from us?"

PantherKit carefully jumped out of the nest. "Follow me." Now, together, they squeezed out of the nursery and through the tunnel that led outside DarkClan

"Where are anda taking me?" Rainkit asked, confused.

"Listen, Our Mother is Grayfeather.

"How do anda know that?" Rainkit asked.

"I overheard LizardStripe talking with GreenStar and Sparrowtail." She told him. "They were talking about who our real mother is, and whether atau not to tell us who she really is. And when GreenStar walked away, they talked to each other." Pantherkit looked as if she were about to cry. "Our mother is in WaterClan. And so is Greenstar's mother.
