Magus from Chrono Trigger is actually a good guy... kinda. He wants to stop Lavos, but he will do whatever it takes to do so, even trying to kill others with a horde of monsters and let his own teammates die

So it sounds like he is overzealous as well as having a one-track mindset/mentality and at the same time being the uncompromising type
