What were Edward's Reasons for Leaving Bella in New Moon?

This is sort of an informal rant/observation.

We all know that New Moon is about tragedy and the loss of cinta and the aftermath. Edward left Bella. But why did he leave her?

Since New Moon is being adapted into a feature length film, I've been seeing alot of pertanyaan and accusations reguarding Edward's absense.

Examples:
- Jacob's better than Edward because he didn't leave Bella!
- Why would Edward leave Bella if he loved her?
- Edward's scum. When anda cinta someone, anda don't just abandon them and leave them to die!

~Their mother,Ana,died 15 years ago

The Hales--Esme,Rosalie,and Jasper
~Their father,Peter,died while Esme was only seven months pregnant

The Swans--Charlie,Renee,and Bella

What is anda favorit quote from Edward atau Jacob(doesn't have to be your favorit characters quote!)Are anda in cinta with that character? Do anda like there actor that plays him(i know i do!!)
