Chapter 1- Waking Up

I opened my eyes. Was I dead? Whatever I was...... dead atau alive. Something was different. I remembered the sound of rushing wind as I had quickly moved downward, away from the aman, brankas and stable ground. I remembered the feeling of sickness in the pit of my stomach. I suddenly hadn't wanted so badly to die.

Suddenly I heard two males speaking in another room. "She's awake," one of them announced. His voice, I didn't recognize. There was something about it though that seemed vaugely familiar. As soon as I heard the other voice, one I did recognize I sat up. Only then did I realize that all these thought and everything else had been processed in seconds. It was aman, brankas to say I was utterly confused.

I turned my head at the sound of footsteps, the door to the room I was in slowly opened. "Hello?" I asked, I immediately covered my mouth. My voice sounded so different. I noticed my hair was tangled and matted through with dried blood, which made my throat burn for some strange reason. I frowned as it grew lebih and lebih uncomfortable.

I saw a very familiar face appear in the crack of the door. "Hello Esme," he smiled kindly. "How are you?"

"Confused," I blurted out. "And really just wondering.... what's wrong with me?" I berkata the last part a bit lebih timidly.

"Well, nothing is particualary wrong.... in that specific sense," he told me sitting on a chair near the door. "You're just different than anda were. And yes, in a sense anda are dead. But really, undead. And it might take a while to explain, do anda want to hear or....?" he trailed of as another male, who bore a striking resemblance in some ways to Carlisle.

"Hello Esme," he smiled as well, then turned to Carlisle. "She's probably very uncomfortable with all the.... dried blood all over her.” he noted looking over at me. “Maybe anda should let her take a mandi, shower atau something before explaining everything,”

“Oh. Right, that's probably a good idea Edward. As usual,” Carlisle replied to him. He then turned to me. “I'm sorry. anda probably are very uncomfortable. I don't think about it much anymore. But enough talk, there's a bathroom right down the hall. Edward already went to get your things from your friend's home. They're already in the bathroom,” he told me, then he walked out of the room with Edward following him.

I frowned. I'd only been left lebih confused, and lebih desprate for information than I had been moments ago. I sighed and walked out the door. The house we were in was small, but very nicely decorated. It had a nice feel to it, it seemed almost natural to be somewhere like this. I walked down the hallway to where he had indicated the bathroom as being. I looked in the mirror to see how horrible I really looked and quickly looked away noticing how horrifiying it must have been for other people to see. I quickly looked back again knowing I needed to see where I needed to clean the most. I gasped as I noticed my eyes. They were blood red and very frightening. I shook my head and walked over to start the water.

I quickly washed my hair and everywhere else that was covered in thick layers of dried blood. As soon as it was all off the burning in my throat lessened..... sort of. It was still pretty bad but I was pretty sure a drink would fix it. I sighed and got dressed, then I walked slowly out of the bathroom. I could hear Edward and Carlisle whispering in the front room. I stood in the hallway for a moment, afraid to find out what was happening to me. I knew I needed to know though, so I walked out.

“I'm.... finished,” I berkata quietly. They both heard me and turned.

Carlisle smiled. “You look much happier now,” he chuckled slightly.

I smiled back. “I feel.... clean now,” I laughed. “That was really uncomfortable.”

“Well, I guess we had better explain everything. Like I said, it might take a while. I think you'll be even happier once anda know the truth.” he told me. “First anda should know, everything I'd told anda up to this point about why I am the way I am has been a lie,”

I nodded. I'd been smart enough to figure that out on my own. He looked me directly in the eye.

“Edward and I... and now you, Well we're not human. We can blend with humans, even if it is hard at times. anda most likely noticed your eyes.... well. I know anda did. Edward told me. He can read minds,”

“Oh.....” I berkata slightly uncomfortable with that.

“Don't worry I won't unless I have permission, other than that. Carlisle wanted to make sure anda were alright,” Edward assured me. Something about the way he berkata it convinced me.

“Anyway,” Carlisle started again. “Those will fade to be the color of ours, and your cravings will also lessen. It will take about a year, maybe lebih though.”

“Alright, well..... what are we then?” I asked not sure I wanted to know the answer.

“Well. We're vampire Esme,”
