Taking a break from my fics to rant. Yes this was taken from my ridiculously long rant. *Awaits the reporting* Don't worry this is a saved document on my computer. :)
Alright, Bloomix had it done for me. I thought she was a Sue before, but now she is officially (in my mind) the biggest Sue created oleh a professional writer/cartoonist yet!
Good lord, I searched up the definition and it fit her well; I itellisized(sp?) the definition and then added my reasoning:
A female character who is so perfect as to be annoying. The Mary Sue character is almost always beautiful, smart, etc... In short, she is the "perfect" girl. Honestly in the first season she was fine and had a few flaws, but as the series progressed instead of progressing her character she was downgraded. Now that she knows all about her dragon flame and her true identity she has such a lack of flaws its a flaw in itself. I mean she's not even notably clumsy atau anything like that anymore. She's basically the ideal beauty besides not having blonde hair. But she's got 'the perfect body' she's got 'great cloths'. She's supposedly 'the smartest and friendliest and most powerful'. And for crying out loud she had to upstage Musa with her 'perfect' voice.
The Mary Sue usually falls in cinta with the author's favorit character. Come on, we can't deny that Sky is Straffi's favorit male that he created. And oleh all means he's a Gary-Stu, the perfect man the perfect price Charming--Hell I'll even bring the Gary-Stu definition in here; hese are usually your blonde haired, blue eyed, stereotypically gorgeous, pretty boys. They also tend to be fond of sports and be "jocks" atau "preps". Sound familiar? And of course he's the sweetest, nicest, and unrealistically charming man. Of course the 'perfect' Bloom gets him right?
and winds up upstaging all of the other characters in the book/series/universe. Again, sound familiar? And this is painfully true. I already covered how Bloom became the lead singer and upstaged Musa, ya know, the fairy of music. So lets pindah onto the fact that she has so much of a back story that there was no room to discuss the 3 main antagonists' (5 seasons in the running) histories at all, not even the name of their halaman awal planets atau parents (just a glimpse at what they used to look like. She has so much screen time that her fellow Winx like Tecna and Musa hardly have any background either. Like legit, we know that Bloom was 16 in season 1 and liked extra-cheese pizza--yet we don't even know the official age of the Trix, we can only guess based on the fact that Icy mentions they're seniors in college (which varies dub to dub). And let's not forget who gets most of the credit after final battles. Bloom is such a Sue that even the people she upstaged give her the most credit for something they all did together with equal contribution. Tecna sacrificed her life for Tides she gets a few claps. Bloom believes in herself and she gets a party. In every season finale it's 'woo hoo Bloom saved us all' not 'yay the Winx saved us'. And then there's the baru saja God forsaken Bloomix, if that isn't upstaging all the characters I don't know what is!
oleh all means this website listed 3 types of Sues and she matches them all!
Victim!Sues: The Victim!Sue is your whiny, wimpy, pathetic female character who can't seem to do much of anything except cry and get herself into trouble that the romantic interest of the fic has to rescue her from. Okay I'll give her credit here, she doesn't always make Sky come to save her, but he did have to a few times. However, she is whiney and wimpy. Whiney--the whole first season was 'oMG wHo r mY ParENTz!' 'wHo eVEn am I!' I get it, I'd be curious too, but every episode of season 1 and a crapload lebih in season 3 is too much. And it got to the point where she started the upstaging. Musa brings up her dead mom, Bloom pulls the I don't know who I am crap and gets all the sympathy. Same goes for when Stella brings up her parents' divorce atau Layla brings up the safety concerns of her planet. And it doesn't just stop there, she's always whining about something new. As for wimpy--right after she lost the flame she was so wimpy she ran off to sat there sulking about it. She isn't really anything special without that dragon fire.
Speaking of which; Warrior!Sues: The Warrior!Sue is usually loud, obnoxious and (of course) an amazing warrior. She'll usually have some tragic past that led her to become a warrior, and she'll upstage all of the Canonical characters with her mad Sueish powerz. Is this not Bloom though? Her planet imploaded and was Frozen over, she's the last survivor. Tragic past cliche alert! And of course we have the all mighty flame, so ridiculously powerful, it is the sumber of all magic and cannot be taken away no matter what! So insanely Sueish it gets it own hotdamn transformation! Holy cow, this made me so mad, the fact that all the Winx lost there powers and then here's Bloom livein' it up with her insufferably powerful dragon flame. Icy's lucky she lost it, she doesn't need the power of the Sue!
Mage!Sue: Similar to the Warrior!Sue, the Mage!Sue has amazing stregnth in magic, atau has a magical power that nobody else has. She'll usually wind up upstaging all of the magical characters of the series.
This one goes directly with the above and for the same reasons. But since it came up again, let's mention that she always gets the easy way of attaining new powers.
Misfit!Sue: This includes all Sues who are supposedly geeks, nerds, misfits, etc. Usually, the Misfit!Sue doesn't start out as inhumanly beautiful, but winds up getting a makeover and finding out she had the potential to be a guy-magnet (or girl-magnet, depending on the genre) all along. Also includes the "My parents want me to do this but I want to do that and it's not fair!!one!" A.K.A Season 1 Bloom. Teased oleh Mitzi and what not. Also not exactly the most populer girl in school. That quickly changed in season 2--exactly what I meant oleh they regressed her character! And oleh all means when she got a bike instead of a car she pulled the OMG that's no fair card. So oleh all means she did start of as lebih of a nerd and then got the total hero makeover.
The only one she doesn't fall under is Punk/Goth!Sue.
And I would also like to mention that she has the perfect life, not even kidding any problem she had from season one was solved. And I'm not talking minor problems either, I'm talking the ones that actually gave her a little depth unsolved. Like--oh I don't know--the fact that she was the last of her people. But nope oleh the end of the first movie Sparks was restored all shiny and new again, along with her parents (which oleh they way she totally replaced her adoptive parents--the ones who raised, fed, and clothed her) with. And oleh the end of season 5 her sister was alive again, and to all of our surprise caught the Sue!
It is way to easy to tell who the writer's favorit is, and that is not a good thing in any fictional work.
Like I'm really sorry for this rant guys, but this whole thing really grinds my gears! I'm a noob writer, I haven't been published, and even I know this type of character is bad. Even I know that an penulis shouldn't make favoritism obvious, and I'm a woman of many biases!

Victim!Sues are possibly the worst ever. So whiny, and Bloom's like "oh mah glob i don't have mah powers wat on earth can i do???". Grr, urge to kill Bloom -- rising. At least Bella Swan is just 60%..admit it, creators. Bloom is 99.9% Mary-Sueish. And she only has a few fans (including me :P..why do I even like her)!
And, there goes season 6! A transformation named after her, Bloomix. And every Winx lose their powers except her. Grr..
Bloom: Hiya, fans! I know you all luhv me so much! Thank you! Me and the Winx luhv you too!
Fans: But you're a Mary-Sue! Plus, you said "me and the Winx". Why not "We Winx"???
Bloom: 'Cause I'm the perfect-amazing-strong-cute-pretty leader! *flips hair*
There you go..up there.
Warrior!Sue totally suits her and I agree she has a perfect life! I went emotional when You said about Tecna's sacrifice because I remembered it. She took all credits and poor tecna!
She has a luxurious life and whenever any problem arises all winx together solves it and all credit goes to BLOOM! Damn it!
That's why I hate her more now. She was #5 on my list now I replaced her with Aisha she #7
This article is made of win! :D
I'm so happy that you wrote this Zannie. It clearly explains what a Sue is and even gives various examples of how one could be written out—and it's pretty clear that Bloom falls under the majority of them. This article made me laugh a lot too. I love your style in here and the choice of words just made this so funny for me. Especially this line, "Icy's lucky she lost it. She doesn't need the power of the Sue!" XD
And poor Daphne...why did they have to ruin your character so much? I loved her as a nymph. And seriously, having a transformation that can grant any wish is pretty stupid, and even Sueish in its own way. But of course, like everything else in Bloom's perfect-ass-life, whatever has been damaged must be reversed! So of course you get your sister back. Plus, I find it ironic that Musa doesn't use her wish to bring her mom back, because she understands it would be "wrong". I honestly believed that Daphne had been dead all this time. Ya know, she was whispy and magical and ghost-like, guys. So...I guess Bloom can play God now? Oh wait no, it was just a "curse". Riiiight....because curses in magical shows/universes have never been known to kill someone, right? (Oh jeez, Avada Kadavra!)
@101musastella Why thank you. I can't say I'm neutral, we all know what I think of her. But I'm glad you agree. I also hate the victim!Sues the most, they don't do anything. Her power is just the most overrated thing.
@nmdis Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Again totally agree, the victim Sues are the worst. And I hate how she has such a perfect life, it's so ridiculous, once they cross the bringing dead characters back to life line...well the Sue becomes a Sue forever. Even more annoying is the upstageing thing, takes away from the worthwhile characters. 5 to 7, that's good. :P
@lovebaltor And thank you. :P I've been meaning to type it for a while, just needed some sort of motivation, Bloomix did me in, stayed up 'til 12:00 typing this! What can I say I have a thing for stating facts (the definition of a Sue for Bloom fans who wish to argue against this) and then backing them up with my, hopefully reasonable, opinions. Right, I was reading the definitions and I'm like 'hotdamn, she's all of these!' I'm glad you had a good laugh.
Right! I totally miss nymph Daphne. She was pretty kick-butt. And then season 6 happened. Yeah, I caught that too, well know we know that Musa has the better moral standing. I've been telling everyone that Bloom is evil!
I mean let's list some stuff...
*She has a "Prince charming"
*She got her enchantix by being the little engine that could.
*She suddenly became the "Best" singer.
*She has the "Best" power in the whole entire universe
*She had 3 seasons + 2 movies just about her.
And the hair ripping one
*She got a transformation about her!
And there are a lot more.
lol 101musastella
*She tooks all credits
*She wasn't famous in college before but now she is
• Everyone likes her and the people who hate her are only the enemies and Mitzi.
• She's the only Winx who didn't lose powers.
• Tecna was suppose to be the logical one, but I see Bloom giving out all information and explanations.
• She's bossy and everyone follows her orders.
I mean, way easier to say it like..
Bloom: Hi! *flips hair* I'm Bloom. I have a Prince Charming. I got my Enchantix by being a good fighter. I have 3 seasons and 2 movies about me, I'm so popular! I also have a transformation named after myself. Musa's the fairy of music but I took her place. I take everyone's credit, like in season 2 the other Winx came to rescue me but I took all the credit *flips hair and smiles*! I hate Icy. I love Sky so much, he's super duper hot!
Fans: *dumbfounded* What the fudge.
Bloom: I love you all! *Blows kiss*
@nmdis Thank you!
@lovebaltor Right she's always saying how she's trying to stop bullying and then here she is typing on--not just one--but all of my articles on why Bloom is so great and how Icy is a crappy character. She posted 'Bloom is great!!!!!!!' on my 'My Take On Tricy and Season 5 Icy' and article that had nothing to do with Bloom at all. And the whole asking me for Bloom hate articles makes no sense to me, as I know she's just going to leave the same comment on that one too.
@lilytames: Lol GTFO
For example she is the all powerful princess, the fairy of the all powerful INEXTINGUISHABLE dragon flame, and whatnot.
What's shocking is that musa founded the band with her beautiful voice AND NOW bloom is the one taking the spotlight and singing with the perfect voice, while musa is just a guitarist.
I feel like she's stealing everything away from the other characters, she's taking the spotlight for everything and all the problems are about her. She also worries too much about her problems, like in "secret of the ruby reef" where she ignored musa's discovery and said she had an important thing to do, which turned out to just be a silly walk with sky.
She is always the hero and the one who gets all the praise for everything, which is getting insanely annoying. i think the other winx deserve some credit too. it would be great to see a season or a few episodes where bloom is not the hero and the other characters step up to save the day.
eg, season 5 where it was meant to be aisha's mission but the credit went to bloom for destroying tritannus. They put her in the hero spot, the one who ultimately ends the problem, so she gets the the praise.
And i think all this is making her a mary-sue. I understand that she is the main character, but the other characters need their parts in the show too, not just her.
I do not mean any offence to the bloom fans. I'm just stating how i feel and supporting this article.
Get out bloom, I don't think a lot of us here like you. You're just a Mary Sue, because you're so annoyingly, unrealistically "perfect", and you always treat Sky like your own life- I mean, you're on a mission to save the magic dimension!!! How is SKY more important than that?? Get your priorities right!!
Also, STOP taking the spotlight- it's getting super annoying and irritating. Yes, we all know that you possess the whatever blah blah dragon flame, but you don't have to keep on showing others and saving the day right? Let your friends have a chance! If you're such a "capable and caring" leader, why do you deny your friends of all this?
Take a look at this too:
link
It's like she has ONE WHOLE PAGE dedicated to talking about her and Sky!! It's ridiculous!! She keeps saying " I love Sky, Sky and I...., my dearest Sky, blah blah blah"
This was a pretty good article about Bloom I found on deviantart:
=========================================
I.) Bloom - MARY SUE
Man, do I HATE using this term, but it's required in this case, so welp. I think Bloom is a Mary Sue because:
The series portrays her as the most powerful fairy ever.
Everyone loves her and crap.
The series creator's favorite fairy is her.
It's like the show revolves ONLY around her.
From what I've heard from others, in Season 6, she's the only one to NOT lose her Sirenix powers. WHY DIDN'T SHE LOSE THEM???
Also, she's really selfish, which irks me even more.
She's a princess and has a Prince Charming.
The way she earned her Enchantix is the WORST way to do so. She only yelled, "I can do it!" SHE NEVER SACRIFICED HER LIFE FOR ANYBODY/THING.
In Season 5, she seemed to only care about getting Sky's memory back. (In that episode, Bloom just straight up disregarded Musa's discovery.)
There's more reasons to hate Bloom. Seriously speaking, I despise Bloom just as much as I despise Pokemon Hunter J. I've seen better female characters than Bloom...
Let's see...Golden Witch Beatrice, Rosa Ushiromiya, Minene Uryu (AKA "9th"), Princess Peach, Zelda, etc...
*ADDED TODAY* Welp, someone was nice enough to brighten up my reasons of why I hate Bloom. ---> www.fanpop.com/clubs/the-winx-…
=========================================
credit to link for this article haha
Sooo......yep, I still hate her as much as ever, or maybe even more!!!
1-Has all the power.
2-Has the "obviously strongest" guy to herself.
3-Bloom:I BEAT ALL THE VILLAINS ON MY OWN! HELL YEA!
4-She...The sue herself, became the lead singer?! That's ridiculous...
5-BLOOM! You're so dead for ruining my favorite character's personality! YOU MORPHED YOUR SISTER INTO A FREAKING MARY-SUE!
In other words....Bloom sucks...
And Bloomix isn't Bloom..it's about them "Blooming" again as new fairies...
Yet again I don't mind her..
And another thing..she was the main singer because the goddamn perfect woman doesn't know how to properly play instruments...
Again, there's no proof in the show that she doesn't know how. Her knowledge of instruments isn't even touched upon so no one can say with certainty that she knows/doesn't know how to play instruments. I'm pretty sure they just made her the lead vocalist so she could be in the spotlight again. Proof of that comes from the fact that Inigo had done stuff like that in the past. And honestly I see no reason why she has to out do the music fairy in this one. If you're correct and she can't play instruments then they always could have made her a back up singer. Why didn't they? Because of the term 'back up', Bloom always has to be front and center.
Bloom is a smart girl?LOL That was a good one.I always thought that Bloom was dumber than a box of rocks especially in episode 8 when she couldn't tell that Knut(disguised as Timmy)wasn't the real Timmy ven though he confused Riven's name LOL I mean come on how dumb can you be?How the hell could the real Timmy confuse the name of his friend?Every other member of Winx would have realized that he wasn't the real Timmy. She also is stupid enough to believe strangers just because they happen to be good looking and act nice*cough*Avalon's double*cough* and she was also dumb enough to not realize that Sky was jealous about the fact that she kept babbling about Avalon all the time.I could mention many other stupid moments of Bloom but I don't have the time to write them all down.
"But nope by the end of the first movie Sparks was restored all shiny and new again, along with her parents (which by they way she totally replaced her adoptive parents--the ones who raised, fed, and clothed her) with."
Yup.Bloom is an ungrateful bitch.I especially hate the fact she calls her adoptive parents Mike and Vanessa. It is totally rude to call the people who raised with their names instead of mom and dad.
And the whole Avalon thing. She was dating Sky, why the heck would she pine over another dude when she claim Sky is 'like omg the best thing 5eva!!!'
But more than any of that I really hate how she treated her adoptive parents after the revival of Sparks. I mean it got better, but still.
A think that I hate about Winx Club is that Bloom must always have her happy ending. In season 2 Sky dies but than Bloom discovers that she has powers with which she can give life to the dead, wakes him up again and everything ends happily for her,in the "Secret Of The Lost Kingdom"movie she gets her parent's back, all of these happy moments for Bloom could still somehow be tolerated but when her sister Daphne comes back to life too it all gets way too much.Which brings me to another thing I hate about Winx Club. Why must the writers give happiness only to Bloom? Why did Leyla have to suffer by seeing her boyfriend Nabu(who was one of the best characters)getting killed? Why couldn't he just be revived back to life again like Sky?Why can't Stella's parents get back together so that she can be happy again? If Daphne can get back to life gain than why can't the writers do the same thing with Musa's mother?Because according to dear Iginio Straffi only his main character Bloom deserves to be happy
And I also hate how Diaspro was turned into a villain when in real life she is victim of Sky's and Bloom's egoism
You see in almost all the series of the genre the writer makes the story more dark and complex by giving the main character something to suffer but that suffering only makes them stronger. For example:
In W.I.T.C.H-Will' parents are divorced and she can't accept her mother's boyfriend.Than in season 2 her boyfriend is turned into a villain
In Pretear-Himeno's mother is dead and when she turns 16 her father marries a rich woman.Himeno's stepmother and stepsisters hate her,Himeno becomes than depressed becuase she doesn't fit in
In Wedding Peach-Mamoko was 5 year old when her mother died(later turns out that she left because of her family's safety).Than it turns out that her boyfriend is a demon but she still stands strong.
In Sailor Moon-Usagi's life was all well and good before she became a sailor senshi but than she finds out that in her past life she was a princess who's planet go destructed and that her mother was killed by trying to save her and her friends.Hell towards the end of season one all of her friends and the man that she loves are killed.
All of these characters still managed after all the pain to stand strong and fight against the enemy.Bloom on the other hand is weak and immature.Everytime she makes a mistake or something bad happens to her she runs away
I've read a lot of W.I.T.C.H. what's nice about it as that they don't really neglect or throw any of their characters to the side. Each of the mains has a family struggle of some sort and none of them a brushed to the side for Will.
Likewise with Sailor Moon. Each character is appreciated. None holding infinitely more value than another.
That's why I feel like Bloom isn't a good leader. She either runs away or wallows in self-pity and it gets real old real quick. I was fine with it and understood to a degree...but there comes a line to be drawn with a character complaining about one thing.
Thats exactly how I feel. The main reason why I love the W.i.t.c.h comics is that the stories are more mature and dark. For example:Will's father blackmailing her mother in order to get the custody of Will just because he wants Will's mother to suffer,Will being afraid that she will become corrupted by the power of the heart and become evil like Nerissa,Will getting in constant fights with her mother because she can't tell her the truth about being an guardian,Phobos in the 4th saga trying to delete the existence of the girls etc.The first 3 season also had elements that were more mature, dark and complex.Daphne dying to save Blooms life,The trix tricking Bloom in order to think that she is descend of the 3 witches,Musa's mother being dead and her father not allowing Musa to become a singer,Stella's parents being divorced and not caring enough about her,,Stella's father marrying a woman that hates Stella, the fact that in season 2 the winx had to overcome their fears in order to get their charmix,in season 3 to sacrifice themeselves in order to get enchantix,Sky having another fiancee, etc The last dark thing that happenned in Winx Club was Nabu's death which was pretty unfair considering that Sky was revived back to life after he died in season 2.Now everything is happy and light with no real struggles.Another things that I hate about about.Another thing that I hate is that everything is about fashion in the last 2 seasons.I didn't watch the whole season 6 but in almost every episode that I saw Stella randomly is like"Thats not the rights outfit for this or that"and gives the girls a new outfit by using magic.I find extremely stupid and annoying how in one episode of season 6 the winx are dancing ballet and Leyla calls it training for battle(I mean really?Training for a battle by dancing ballet? Are you freaking kidding me?).I guess that the writers were like hey lets turn the winx to ballerina's for a moment because little girls love ballerina's.*double face palm*..I blame Iginio's greed for the fact that Winx Club is so childish nowadays. He knows that making the show more childish, will attract more child viewers that will buy plenty of"Winx Club"products.I also hate how they changed Musa's character in season 4.I always liked it how Musa was the tomboyish one but in season 4 she is turned into a super girly girl that wear mini skirts and high heels. And I hate it that she wants to leave Riven for another man.I thought that after 3 season Musa would learn to accept Riven just the way he is but not they had to make Musa fall for another guy in order to make more drama. The old Musa always found it hard to deal with Riven's arrogance and coldness but she would have never betrayed him.
Another things that I hate about Winx Club is that the villains have no background stories. In W.I.T.C.H.,Sailor Moon,Pretear,Wedding Peach,Angel's Friends we get to know who the villain was before becoming evil and the reason why they became evil.In Winx Club we never get to know anything.Hell,we don't even get to know the real age of the Trix let alone anything else.
