Fans might best remember Bob as the guy who had his leg eaten by Gareth and his followers from Terminus. Indeed, his line about tainted meat was one of the highlights of Season 5. If you’ve gotta go out after getting chomped on by both underwater walkers and hipster cannibals, you might as well do it in style with such an awesome line of dialogue.
Memorable death aside, though, Bob was an excellent character. Since he joined the cast in the premiere of Season 4, Bob always seemed like a charming guy who was very easy to get along with. His problems with alcoholism came into play once in a while, but he always managed to take the control back from his demons to bring some light to the rest of the group with his smiling face.
It was easy for Bob to top his comic book counterpart. In the comics, Bob— who is an elderly white man— is only seen for a couple of frames, as a Woodbury resident who helps patch up the Governor after Michonne attacks him. He’s a former medic and an alcoholic, but that’s all he has in common with our Bob from the TV series.
