First off; if anda haven't seen 1912 this is your spoiler alert. This is an artikel about the character development and events within the episode. anda have been warned :)

This episodes was fantastic. Not only a flashback, which we haven't had in awhile. But it completely broke off from the regular story line. A focus on the Salvatore's together-with very little Elena. Matt and Elena have some real bonding time. While Alaric has the hari from hell.

The bintang of this episode was Damon. anda start off with him coming to Ric's defense and running into Elena. He has some really snarky lines that are real scene stealers.( His bajing tanah, chipmunk impression- priceless!) Then anda have Elena poke his balloon with a pin. She sees right through his act. "If anda don't stop pushing people away. anda going to end up alone" Balloon of snark and cover ups; deflated.

Then we get to the real dynamic. Damon sees Stefan buckling under the pressure of his blood cravings and takes him out to a boys night. Where they run into barbie Klaus who fishes for details on old trees in Mystic Falls. Now don't be fooled, Damon was paying attention to Rebekah's inquisitiveness im sure. He is no fool. His goal is to get rid of the originals. Who hurt his brother and threaten the girl he loves. The "she devil" is a key to the pot of gold. He'll be back to unlock that another day.


After some rehashing of the birth of snarky Damon and Stefan the ripper. As well as the introduction of the character Sage. Damon's Lexi. Damon sets out to get Stefan to feed, so he can teach him to control it. Mind anda Elena shows up and shit hits the fan. But he isn't giving up.

He reaches out to Stefan who pushes him away. "I don't need your help" Damon reveals that he most certainly does and the last time he didn't have Damon's help he turned out to be a serial killing mass rippah.

So now Stefan wants the why. Really.. your that thick atau do anda just want him to say it out loud. As if last weeks actions weren't enough. When he.. oh anda know.. sacrificed any chance he had with Elena and made himself all hated again for you.

But Damon doesn't back down. He spills.

"I let anda walk away. I watched anda go over the edge. I didn't do anything to stop you. - Damon.
" anda couldn't"- Stefan
" Sure I could of. I just didn't want to help. But I want to now. And whenever anda go too far. I will be there to pull anda back. Every day, every detik until anda don't need me" - Damon
"Why" - Stefan (I have to reiterate. REALLY? anda know his baru saja actions and the loving, caring, near teary look your brother is giving anda right now doesn't say it all)
"Because your all I got" - Damon (The look in his eyes were full of a sadness and a vulnerability. But showed the truth of those words where " Because your my brother, and i cinta and look out for you, your all I have" )

That right there was one of the most beautiful gut wrenching moments ever. For both of them. Stefan breaking through and really trying to fight his inner ripper was great to see. But Damon has been really suffering lately and his evolution as a character shines through. He doesn't even wallow in self pity. He sets out to save his bro and keep everyone safe. While letting almost everyone hate him. Unsung hero. Say it with me!

Now stepping away from the profound brotherly core. We have Alaric and Elena/Matt development.

Now Alaric gets thrown in jail for the murders. We all jump to his defense of course. But it is revealed he IS the killer. But not him him. It is an effect of the death reversing ring! The ring doesn't just run out of jus eventually. It HAS A PRICE. As all manors of cheating death do. The ring will deteriorate your mind and slowly anda will lose your sanity. anda will black out, lose memories and have an alter-ego. And go on murderous killing sprees. Killing founding council members. SHOCKER! Alaric character was too squeaky clean but now he has some really damage to deal with. As Elena's dear brother Jeremy has the other ring. I assume some real development will take place there as well.

I have to say I cinta this storyline. As ALL MANORS OF CHEATING DEATH HAVE A PRICE. This is how it should be. These rings had no apparent price atau repercussions; now they do. And yes Vampirism does have many drawbacks and prices for its gift of immortality. Missing humanity, crippling emotions, killing people to survive, burning in the sun etc etc. I need not go on.

Now the Elena and Matt story line was cute. And a nice break for them both from their usual interactions. Matt helps Elena out and elena spills on "Why she loves the Salvatore's" a little bit.

Stefan. "He made me feel aman, brankas and he couldn't die" Now this reveal Stefan's relationship made her feel loved, aman, brankas and normal. But alsothat she loved him because he couldn't die. INTERESTING ANGLE! Her parents died and she needed someone to cinta and cinta her that wouldn't disappear. BINGO. Vampire's your winner! This made me believe even lebih in the "first love" label on Stelena. Not true love. It happened to quick. To easily. No growth. No time. And some really hairy reasons to start the relationships. For Stefan; he watched her for months to make sure she wasn't Katherine but liked her at first because she looked like her. hmm.... and Elena "he makes me feel aman, brankas and loved and he wouldn't die" hmmmm.. Nothing epic here for me. Now i will never say it wasn't love, it certainly was. kata kunci being was. They were different people and they were trying to be something different back then. A lot has happened, changed and developed. Even outside of her cinta for Damon. As individual people I don't think they fit together that way anymore. She will always cinta him, and he her, but the bond has changed.

And on Damon. "Damon just sort of snuck up on me. He got under my skin and no matter what I do, I can't shake him"

MUCH BETTER! Slow build up. Unexpected cinta anda can't shake! I don't believe I need to defend the magic of this couple as It defends itself.


This episode was fabulous. Written wonderfully. With addictive twists and turns. A fabulous balance of humor with heartfelt confessions and growth. A mystery got solved and lebih began. Two brothers became closer and Rebekah got re- re- rejected!
