The Mokees totally. in 1967 they sold more albums then the rolling stones and the Beatles combined. Mike Nesmith once stayed with John Lennon and john would bring home recordings for mikes opinion. John even said that he never missed their show and they were more like the Marx brothers than manufactured Beatles.

I can't see how anyone could vote for anyone other than the Beach Boys. They were the main rivals to the Beatles, and actually came closer than any other band to the height of the Beatles artistically.
Brian Wilson was Lennon, McCartney and George Martin combined at his height. Dennis Wilson was the George Harrison of the band!
And Pet Sounds beats Sgt. Pepper anyday, which is a surprise because that was the main influence for Sgt. Pepper.

Umm... this is the Beatles fan club, right? I don't think anybody can compare to the Beatles, no matter how good they are, because the Beatles are just at a level of perfection that nobody else can achieve. I thought all Beatles fans would realize that. And by the way, some of these bands sound nothing like the Beatles and, in my opinion, have nothing to do with the sweet simplicity that makes the Beatles so wonderful.

Rubyrings it's not about sounding like the Beatles. It's just about being as good as them.
