Malik

Malik, an Arctic subspecies of the gray wolf, was born May 8, 2000 and is a brother to Shadow. Malik is very curious serigala that shows little intimidation with strangers. He's described as easy-going oleh the serigala care staff and can be easily distracted oleh just about anything. Malik was placed in the Retired Pack in November 2009.

For each wolf, anda will see a weekly photo, notes on behavior atau physical health and a video clip. Please note, due to the large file size of the video clips, they will only be archived for 30 days.

Grizzer

Grizzer, a Great Plains subspecies of the gray wolf, was born on May 5, 2004. He is a littermate to Maya and has matured into a strong and big (120+ lb)... adult male. He was removed from the Exhibit Pack in March 2011 after the tragic loss of his littermate, Maya. It was determined that Grizzer had been losing confidence in his status and without the dominance of his littermate, he couldn't compete with the younger packmates. Grizzer is retired, but not currently living with the other retired wolves, Shadow and Malik. During the summer of 2011, an alternate enclosure is being planned...

WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- The National Zoo is welcoming the birth of four maned serigala pups at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Va.

National Zoo officials say the pups were born to 8-year-old Salina and 4-year-old Nopal. Keepers are monitoring the pups closely because maned serigala pups have a 50 percent mortality rate in the first month, according to zoo officials.

He started out life as he wanted to live it, gentally nurtured oleh the tete of serigala strength. His pack was a good one, he had it all; A mother a father and a pack that loved him dearly.

One hari a horrible api broke out over the packs domain killing most of their number, saved oleh his mother that perched him high on a cliff before plummeting into the firey abyss below-she was never seen again. His father died also. Alone he roams; looking for a pack to call his home.

Has he found it in the anubians serigala pack? Will they accept him here? These thoughts ravage his head as he enters the anubians pack domain. He boldly steps up to take his place among the pack ranks and form a new life he can call his own.
