Bridge of Spies, directed oleh Steven Spielberg has received 6 Oscar nominations this year, including one for the Best Picture. It is based on the 1960 U-2 incident during the Cold War.

Synopsis:
When Francis Gary Powers, an American pilot is captured oleh Russians after his U-2 spy plane is shot down, an insurance lawyer from New York named James Donovan is sent to negotiate with the Soviets. The dangerous negotiations involved the release of Powers in exchange for Rudolf Abel, a Soviet KGB spy who was then under the custody of the USA.

The film stars Tom Hanks, Mark Rylance and Amy Ryan among others. It has been co-written oleh Matt Charman, Ethan Coen, Joel Coen.

Production:
James Donovan published his account of the U-2 incident in 1964 which was called 'Strangers on a Bridge: The Case of Colonel Abel and Francis Gary Powers.' The incident was written about in several other publications and screenwriter Matt Charman pitched his story after interviewing Donovan's son. The script was bought oleh DreamWorks and in 2014, rubah, fox 2000 Pictures agreed to co-finance.
The filming took place in the States as well as in Germany and Poland. Some critical scenes were even shot exactly where they took place, like the 'prisoner exchange scene' on the Glienicke Bridge atau the 'Bridge of Spies' as it is called.

The film is rated PG-13.

Reception:
The film has grossed over 160.9 million USD worldwide. It has received largely positive reviews despite a few historical inaccuracies along with one Golden Globe nomination and one BAFTA award.
While some have hailed it as a forgotten event in history turned into a spectacular and intriguing story, others have found something lacking in it. However, there is no doubt that this film deals with a fantastic storyline about an insurance lawyer who fights with his tas kantor, tas rather than a gun.
