A hari in the Life...
I was watching my favourite Seinfeld episode, 'The Subway' (Season 3, Episode 13) and I got to thinking, what if I could read the gang's diaries for that day? I decided to have a try, so here goes...
Jerry
I had the strangest hari today... I had to go to Coney Island to get my car from the police garasi (I still can't believe they found it!) so I was at the cafe early today, and I was so tired. I met George, Elaine, and Kramer there, and they made me pay for breakfast (as usual) it's so unfair, I always have to pay! Well anyway, we all had somewhere to go today – Elaine was going to be best man at a lesbian wedding, George was going to a job interview, and Kramer was paying all his ridiculous traffic fines, I really don't know why he insists on driving, he's dangerous! We all rode together to 42nd Street, and I was trying to get one of them to come out to Coney Island with me, because I decided that while I was there I wanted to go on the rides, it might be years before I get out there again, and it's no fun doing it alone. But no one would come with me, so we went our separate ways. When I got on the train to Coney Island, I was still so tired, I fell asleep! I must have slept half the journey, and when I woke up, I found myself sitting across from a naked guy! What kind of person takes off their clothes on the Subway?? I tell anda what, I am definitely thinking twice before touching those seats again. So after waking up to that surprising scene, I actually got to talking to the guy, and he turned out to be rather good company. We had a great conversation about the Mets, and when I told him about wanting to go on the rides at Coney Island, he berkata he'd come with me, so we went together and had a great time – we had hotdogs and fries at Nathan's, we went on the rides, and we had so much fun that oleh the time I got to the police garage, it was closed! So after all that, I have to go out there again, to get my car, but I don't mind, I had so much fun. When I eventually met up with the others at the cafe this evening, they all seemed so down, Elaine missed her wedding, and I can't even begin to guess what happened to George, he turned up wearing a bedsheet! As for Kramer, well, I gave up trying to figure him out a long time ago. It was pretty strange though, when Elaine gave me the bill, Kramer pulled out a handful of money and paid it all, with a generous tip too! So, that was my day, and it goes to show, anda meet all kinds on the Subway, and sometimes the strange ones are the most fun.
Elaine
Where do I even start with my day? I missed the wedding, which I was really looking meneruskan, ke depan to, and I was stuck in that box of a train for hours, it was such a nightmare! But I suppose I should start from the beginning. The wedding was today, so I was up early, and met everyone at the cafe for breakfast. George and Kramer were there as well, George had another job interview (who would hire him anyway, he's so lazy!) and Kramer had to go to court to pay his traffic fines, which he just keeps on getting. George asked me this idiotic pertanyaan about 'choosing' the bride and groom at a lesbian wedding, whether they flip a coin? What a stupid question! When we went to leave, of course Jerry whinged about paying the bill, when everyone knows he can afford it, he can be so annoying sometimes. We took the Subway to 42nd jalan, street together, and there was a busker playing the violin, well of course George was the only one not tipping him, and to puncak, atas it off, he tried to say the guy wasn't even blind! When we got to 42nd jalan, street station, they all just walked off without even saying goodbye – typical. When my train got in, there weren't any seats, so I had to stand up, which I hate, and this lady started to talk to me. She seemed nice at first, but when she asked me about the gift I was taking to the wedding, and I had to tell her it was for a lesbian wedding, I was so embarrassed! Then when I told her I was going to be the best man, she gave me this look, berkata something awful and walked off, how rude! I didn't even get to explain that I'm not a lesbian! Not that she would have believed me anyway, I suppose. So anyway, I thought that was my bad luck for the trip, but I was so wrong... A while later, the train just suddenly stopped! At first I was annoyed, hoping it would start again soon, but when nothing happened, I started to feel uncomfortable crammed in with all those people, wishing I could get some space! There was so many people, and something kept touching my leg, I felt like I was trapped in a box, I was freaking out! Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, the train started moving, and I was so happy, but then, it stopped again!! All in all, I was stuck in that train for ages, and I totally missed the wedding. I was so disappointed, I was really looking meneruskan, ke depan to it, I cinta weddings! I was supposed to be the best man, and I had the ring, I feel like I let my friends down as well. It was such a nightmare, I never want to take the Subway again! selanjutnya time I'm taking a cab. oleh the time I got back to the cafe that evening, I was exhausted and in such a bad mood, especially when Jerry wouldn't shut up about the 'great' hari he had with some weirdo on the train. But he did cheer me up a little, and I almost forgot all about it when I saw George, he arrived wearing a bedsheet, and looked like he had an even worse hari than me! Must have been a crazy job interview. And then, when I gave Jerry the bill, Kramer pulled out this huge wad of cash and paid the whole thing! Where did he get all that money from? He doesn't even work! Oh well, I guess I should stop trying to figure him out, it's impossible.
George
That's it, I have had the worst hari in history. I started the hari hoping I was going to finally get a job, I made it to the detik interview, so I was at the cafe early, I even had on my suit – let's face it, I would have still been in tempat tidur otherwise. Jerry, Kramer and Elaine were all there as well, everyone was busy. The police finally found Jerry's car, so he had to go out to Coney Island to get it, and Kramer had to pay more of his traffic fines – I asked him what they were, and one of them was for having 'no doors'! No doors? I just don't understand how he can still be driving. Elaine was going to be 'best man' at a lesbian wedding. How does that even work? How do they decide who's going to be the bride and groom, flip a coin atau something? I tried to ask Elaine over breakfast, and she just looked at me like it's a stupid question. Oh well, it's not like I'd ever be invited anyway, I get the distinct feeling that lesbian look at me and see the reason why they don't tanggal men. Then Jerry compared me to Biff Loman, from 'Death of a Salesman', who's got to be the biggest loser in American literature! Talk about a downer! And if that wasn't enough, when we were all on the train on the way to 42nd Street, he tried to talk me into coming to Coney Island with him, when he knows I can't, I needed this job! I didn't even have any change to give the busker on the train... Not that I would have anyway, that guy wasn't even blind! So anyway, after I changed trains, there was this attractive woman sitting near me, and she was giving me 'the look'. I should have known there was something strange about it, women never pay attention to me, especially attractive ones, but I just assumed it was the suit. She started talking to me, and of course, I couldn't tell her I was unemployed, so I berkata I was 'in the market'. When the train got to her stop, she actually asked me to come with her back to her hotel! It should have been another red flag, but this was a once in a lifetime chance, so I blew off the interview and went with her. If only I knew... When we got back to her hotel room, she told me to 'make myself comfortable', and went into the bathroom, which was confusing, I didn't know whether to take off my clothes, atau leave them on, atau if she was taking hers off – in the end I took off my shoes and sat on the bed, she couldn't say I was uncomfortable. When she came out, wow, she was wearing black lingerie, and she was amazing, I couldn't believe my luck! She wanted to handcuff me to the bed, which was a little strange, but I didn't object, I would have done anything for a chance to be with this woman. But then, she got dressed again, and I had no idea what was going on. She was going through my wallet, and I realized she was robbing me!! When she saw I only had a few dollars, she took my clothes! I tried to tell her it was my only suit, but she was out the door, taking everything! Who does that?? I was cuffed to that tempat tidur for hours, and I lost all my clothes, even my suit, I paid $350 for that suit, it was a nice suit! In the end, I had to make my way back with no money, no clothes, only wearing a bedsheet, because she took everything! To make it worse, my keys were in my clothes, so I had to go to the cafe to find Jerry so I could get my spare key from him, so I could go home! Some young punk in the cafe thought it was funny to 'hari krishna' me, but I set him straight. Finally I got back, and now I just want to forget the whole thing ever happened – but I will definitely not be following any lebih strange women... Well, at least for a while. Oh, who am I kidding? I'd probably fall for it selanjutnya time as well.
Kramer
Well, my hari turned out great!! I left thinking I was going to have to pay $600 in traffic fines, so I met everyone at the cafe for breakfast, and we all got on the Subway. Jerry tried to get me to come out to Coney Island with him, but I had to go pay my fines! I had to change trains at 42nd Street, and when I got on, it was a mad rush for the chairs, these people were like animals! I had to squish into the only kursi left, those seats really are too small! Then later, when a guy left his paper, I tried to get it, but I wasn't fast enough, I only got half a page. But then, I overheard these two guys talking, they were talking about a horse, one of them knew someone, who knew someone else, who knew the stable guy at the breeder's, and this horse was tipped to win! He's a mudder, good in the wet, and with the rain yesterday, it was perfect, but it was his first big race, so he had huge odds! I was so excited, I could hardly hold it in, and I decided to go for it, I went to the betting office and put my $600 on him to win. It was so hard not to tell everyone, I couldn't help sharing my tip with just one guy at the betting office. At first I thought I had lost it all, my horse was too far behind, but just when I thought all was lost, he started coming up the field, and then he WON!! I made all my money back, plus a load more! But then when I left the betting office, one tough-looking guy followed me! He chased me around the Subway for ages, until he finally caught up with me, and I thought I was going to robbed right there, but then I heard 'Freeze!' and there was a cop right there, he saved me! When I looked, it was the busker from the train this morning, he wasn't really blind after all, and I was so happy to be in one piece. I went to the courthouse, paid all my fines, and went back to the cafe to meet the others. When George turned up wearing a bedsheet, it was pretty clear he had some bad luck, but he wouldn't tell us what happened. I didn't even get to tell him that he was right about that 'blind' busker who wasn't blind, maybe that would have cheered him up a bit. I even paid the bill for Jerry before we left, they can't say I don't do my part. It just goes to show, anda never know what you'll hear on the Subway, I made a lot of money today, I should ride the Subway lebih often!
