My first language isn't English so please excuse my mistakes.^^
As a Emma Watson fan I saw the trailer of the movie "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" and immediately fell in cinta with the story so I decided to buy the book.
After two days membaca I finished the book yesterday. (the book is not that big, so I probably would have finished it in one hari if I had lebih time^^) At first, it took me a while to find my way into the story and to understand Charlie (the main character). That was mostly because I wasn't used to the kind of structure the book had. It contains the letters Charlie writes to someone that we don't know. He writes about his life as a freshman and his friends.
He is very emotional and crys alot (especially in the beginnung) what made it for me even harder to "feel him" (I don't know how to express this feeling I get when I'm really in the story and I "live" the book). It was hard for me at this point because I tend to suppress my feelings and I don't cry alot (at least not in public). But at part 2 (the book is subdivided into 4 parts) I really began to understand him and I realised that I did lebih than understand him, I did find myself in him. That was the point, I really got to like that book and I slowly understood that it's not the plot atau the stuff that happens to Charlie which makes this book as remarkable as it is. It is in fact the way Charlie sees the world. He is a wallflower and he doesn't really participate in life but he is watching and thinking and he writes all his thoughts and things he sees to this stranger.
I am a bit of a wallflower too I guess and I found his thoughts really fascinating. I'm not saying that the book is only for wallflowers, I recommend it for everyone who struggles with life (mostly to teenagers, because I believe it's a book for teenagers because they can understand what Charlie is going through). And I probably should also mention that after I saw the movie trailer I expected the book to be different than it actually was. It wasn't bad different. It was just different and I loved the book.
My favourite quotes:
And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.
So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we'll never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.
And even if somebody else has it much worse, that doesn't really change the fact that anda have what anda have.
