Why does saying ((calm down)) make an angry person lebih angry?

In my opinion, because they just want anda to calm down and aren't willing to talk with anda about it.
At least that's how I feel.

Because they don't want to be told what to do.

well, when my mom tells me to calm down, i calm down.

Because how /dare/ anda imply that my anger means that I'm not in complete control.

Whenever I get angry at my man, he just tells me he loves me and makes me food until I calm down.
