I hate Windows Movie Maker and VideoPad. Please help me.

Ok, so my friend and I are trying to make a YouTube video. We recorded it, then put it in Windows Movie Maker to add a judul and credits and whatnot. So, we put it in, and there was no sound. I called my Dad and he berkata to use a converter to get it to an MP4 instead of whatever it was before, and it wouldn't work. So I downloaded this thing called VideoPad and I figured it was going to work, but anda can't do a judul atau credits. Can someone tell me (us) if we're doing something wrong, atau suggest another (free) video-making thing? Please?
