Opinion Poll: Should Abortion Be Legal?

I can't really say I am up for much debate, I have been a little short tempered lately and I don't want a debat to turn into a flame war...but none the less having been invited I shall answer.

Personally I think it should be an option that should be used sensibly, the way I see it a person should be aware that if a woman does have sex she is going to get pregnant, even if she uses contraception it is still possible, people should accept that risk. Rape on the other hand can't really be helped, I think abortion should be an option for that reason. At the same time some people think life starts before birth, I have always seen it as when the brain starts to work but some people see it as being when the baby is actually born. Really it all boils down to when exactly is the baby "Born" When the brain starts to work? When all of the organs are working? When the baby is able to live on it's own without the mother's umbilical cord? That much is up to you.

I think it should be an option but not one taken lightly.

Yes. I'll keep my argument simple.

I am pro-choice. It's the mother's decision as to whether atau not she wants to keep it.

And at that point, it's not even a child. It's a fetus, not a person. It's killing something that could be, not something that is. It's not murder.

Yes, it should be legal. It's completely up to that person whether that should happen atau not. And although I'm completely against someone getting an abortion, I believe they should still have free choice to do what they want to.

I think that it should be legal. If someone makes a mistake they should have the chance to fix it.

If anda get raped, anda shouldn't have to have that person's baby. If the baby is going to be born with problems atau will be a stillborn, anda should be able to get an abortion.
So yes, to an extent. I don't think everybody should be having reckless sex and getting an abortion every other month, but abortion isn't all bad.

It should be legal.

It's the mother's choice whether she wants to keep it atau not, and it's completely her choice.
Don't get me wrong, I would never but people should have the free choice to decide whether to have an abortion atau not.

I believe that it should to a certain point.

For instance, if a girl is raped when she is really young, she should have a right to keep the baby. One that I hope she would take. If she doesn't want the baby then she can put it up for adoption, and there's plenty of clinics to help her get through her pregnancy.

I don't, however, think it should be used as a method of birth control. I believe abortion is murder. And, while I can't change how people feel and what they want to do, I can voice my opinion of it. I believe that an unborn baby is a living being. One that doesn't deserve to die. One that can't help what it is and hasn't done anything to deserve death.

I believe it should be legal so people can do what they want with their bodies, but it's not a choice I would take.

I'm against abortion for many reasons, but to briefly summarize my main reasoning;

1) I believe that an unborn baby should have a chance to live.
2) A relative's experiences with having an abortion, she told me herself she regretted it.
3) Ways that abortions can and currently are done are absolutely atrocious to me.

Just to name a few.

I am open for abortion being an acceptable solution in two particular situations; the mother's life was in critical danger with the cause directly being her pregnancy atau the unborn infant having a severe malformity that completely prevented life outside the womb, because it wouldn't be any better to give birth to a stillborn infant.

But other than that, I'm not for abortion.

Now, should it be illegal to me?

I think it should be legal only for medical purposes such as the situations I just explained two paragraphs up. And just for those purposes.

Even if abortion was made illegal people will still try and get rid of the fetus. So, it might as well be done in a nice clean hospital instead of in the bathroom with a wire hanger.

No, because a baby is a human, and ALL humans have a right to live life. I think it should be against the law. I mean, how would anda feel if you'r mom and dad decided to kill anda because THEY made a mistake of having a 1 night stand and anda have to suffer for it? anda wouldn't even be alive! bayi are innocent! So, no. I don't think abortion should be legal just because 2 stupid people don't want the baby.
