should the president (president where anda live) have the power to control your cell phone, television, and interent? explain why atau why not

*sigh* I have two different opinions on this.

From an ethical point of view, no, they shouldn't have that power. There's privacy, freedom, and so on and so forth. We should be able to have access to whatever we want to watch on TV atau look up on the internet. As to cell phone tappings... The government shouldn't be able to listen in on our calls. Privacy.

However, I can understand why they would control this. Controlling what the people see on the televisi and internet gives the leader better control over them. Why do anda think people like those in Egypt hate Americans so much? The leaders tampil them all the greed and crime in America to keep the people from wanting a democracy. It's quite effective. And in terms of cell phone tapping, they don't do that randomly. It's necessary as well.

So my problem is ethics versus politics. I think in this case, the politics of my opinion wins out, though.

For the most part I would say that President should not have that authority. I have heard that Obama wants a shut off switch for the internet. That I have a problem with.
I beleive that any government agency should be able produce ample evidence to a judge to obtain a court order to monitor cell phones atau to control TV atau the Internet.
Cases of child porn sites, I would think it would be obvious to shut down and to track down the persons behind the site.
We need to keep the balance of protecting privacy and freedom of speech against cases of possible terrorist and atau other criminal activities.
If the constitutional check and balances are in place, I see no reason for a innocent person having to worry about this issue. One reason I would suggest we voice concerns to our representatives so laws can keep up with ever changing technology.

No, because it's an invasion of privacy. I would also feel very paranoid about it because it they could do that then It would make me imagine what else they are capable of doing.

And take away our freedom that was fought for 235 years ago? Umm, no. The government can't tell us what to watch atau who to call atau what website to go to. If we screw up, then they can arrest you. Simple as that. Letting them take control of cell phones, television, and internet is pretty much saying that the government can come and go in your house whenever they please without anda having a say in it. They don't have the power to invade your privacy like that.

I support President Obama and no he is not going to do something like this. But stop and think, we already have invasion of privacy. Security Camera's, facebook and Myspace, bills, there are many ways for the government local atau federal to know what your doing atau where anda are.
