I loved the first series of Pokemon, when there were only 151 pokemon... it got ridiculous after that.

It got ridiculous at that point. It just added more, along with Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh Pokemon. Add Unova, and it just got crazy.

KataraLover picked When May and Max left:
In my opinion the seasons with Misty are clearly the best and are just fantastic. The ones with May and Max were okay but really boring and May and Max were pretty annoying. Plus I hated that they changed the voices and the Team Rocket Motto. The Dawn ones were really bad, Dawn was a pain, the Team Rocket Motto got worse, the Pokemon got worse, and the characters got stupider. Now when Iris and Cilan it's absolutely AWFUL! The characters are complete brainless idiots, the voices are irritating, the new pokemon are lame, the new character designs (like with Nurse Joy) look terrible, and so far the worst Team Rocket Motto EVER!

Pokemon was supposed to end after Johto, but carried on because of it's popularity. Sure, adding so many new regions is pushing it, but when you put that aside, you can appreciate that it IS a fun anime to watch.
I don't understand all the Unova hate. It just feels like some kind of bandwagon everyone's jumping on. It's just as good a season as any, and Iris, Cilan and all the rivals are great characters. If people would just step back for a minute and look at the Unova episodes as they are, they'd like them better!
Besides, if new seasons are so bad, then why are people who say that suddenly so into XY? It makes no sense!

I agree with you 100% sameera62. I feel like I am one of the only people out there who still likes the whole anime for what it is and probably one of the only people watches all of the current episodes that air on TV. I just wish more people would listen to you. I still love the anime and always will no matter what direction it goes!!!!!!!!!!

The seasons with May and to some extent Dawn were, passable, the held your gaze for 22 minutes. But the stakes that were in the original seasons left with Misty. Butterfree leaving, the writing, the character arcs, and so many other things left with her.

But I did tear up when Togetic left her. :'(

I think the show drags on something fierce.

I love the first season, thought the Orange Islands were okay, liked the Indigo Plateau, really liked the Johto region, then Misty left and I was sad, then got replaced by May and Max which I found OBNOXIOUS, then Ash started to regress from the competitive, hot-blooded "I'm going to be the best!" go-getter to this calm, mellow, big-brother mentor type, and I thought "Nope, I'm done."

Looking back on it, I wish they had just ended Ash's adventure after the Indigo League, or Johto at the latest, and just re-introduced a new trainer whose journey we could follow, instead of keeping Ash 10 forever and having him forget every lesson he learns every few episodes so as to keep him forever appealing to children. He's the ultimate Peter Pan, but he keeps swapping companions like playing cards and it gets old. Not to mention heart-breaking since we keep losing companions we like and the show takes a new direction with the new companions, despite having the old characters that never grow or develop.

Just my view. I personally think the show went south after Misty left, but mostly because they were already stretching it.

I have to be honest to myself. The show went south after Brock left. He was the character that kept me watching. How he always chased after the ladies and how he was stopped by Max and Crogaunk. XD

But without him, I lost much interest in the anime. But I still watch the movies, since I like the Pokemon movies.

I didn't like the anime until Diamond & Pearl came out. To me, it got better. X and Y Series is my favorite.
