The moment that changed it all…the moment that Peyton confessed her cinta for Lucas to Brooke, his girl friend, and her best friend. I realized after back and forth, Leyton vs Brucas, debat between myself and equally passionate and respectful LPer, Abs07, just how significant that moment is to me as a Brucaser, but even lebih so as a OTH fan. It disgusted me so much that I had been blaming Peyton, and even Leyton for it ever since. Why do I hate this moment lebih than anything? lebih than Leyton’s affair in Season 1…even Brooke breaking up with Lucas in 4.01? Well, I hate it for what it stands for, I hate it for how it changed Breyton, Brucas, Leyton, but most of all I hate how it changed the dynamic of the show, it brought back the segi tiga, segitiga in the worst of possible ways, and cemented it forever as betrayal in the eyes of Brucasers. I see it as a fatal menulis error on behalf of the writers.
anda see, Mark began the series with the intention of creating a world that Leyton, these ill fated soulmates, that were meant to be, would be together, that these two broken individuals would embark on an epic journey that would ultimately end in their union, and the notion that only together would they be whole. That story is beautiful, compelling, and something to believe in. To be honest though I never really was drawn in oleh that story. As I watched all the characters navigate their ways through life, I began to feel connected to them. Through the many struggles that life threw at them I, as cheesy as this sounds, felt as though I was experiencing it right along with them. I looked meneruskan, ke depan to what lied ahead each week. Now, Lucas and his undeniably juvenile, yet almost contagious infatuation with this Peyton Sawyer was marvelous. When he got his ticket into her world, via basketball, I think the world was cheering him on. And then we get to see Peyton as she first locks eyes with him, nearly running him over. We see Leyton, not just Lucas’s crush, for the first time. And while I’ll admit, Leyton never gave me kupu-kupu in the stomach, the idea of it did. But seeing them together, I was just simply indifferent towards them. I was rooting for Lucas, but Leyton was no match for naley in my eyes. The way that Nathan was so reckless, and inconsiderate around everyone else, even PS his girlfriend at the time, but this goofy, independent, and equally beautiful Haley James had the power to make it all go away. Even Nathan was oblivious to the effect that he had on her, and even greater the effect that she had on him. He fought it, she fought it, and that was what I loved. Two people, from such different backgrounds, with no other words to describe it but “falling in love” So as anda can see I was thoroughly distracted with naley to even concern myself with Leyton. Then something unexpected happened. We, through the eyes of Lucas, get to see another side of Brooke, the real Brooke: vulnerable. It sets the stage for one of the most gut wrenching cinta triangles in T.V. drama land, and a debat that 5 seasons later has yet to cease. The one we like to call…Brucas vs. Leyton. I’ll admit, the moment brucas entered the picture I was interested. I wasn’t hooked, just interested. It was then and only then when I started to pay attention lebih closely to Leyton. I remember Leyton in the motel room, where they ciuman and things escalate before the kalung Brooke gave Lucas gets in the way and they realize what they are really doing. I watched Leyton’s affair, disappointed, not surprised. It was torture to see Brooke witness them, heartbreaking to watch her leave Lucas’s house, alone. I was angry with Leyton for being so careless, but I understood that they were young, and Lucas had built up Peyton for so long that it was inevitable. Them breaking off their relationship was bittersweet. Part of me was like, thank you…now Breyton can maybe patch things up, a boy is not worth a friendship like that…then the other part of me was left wondering what this meant for Leyton. In the end of S1 we see Breyton reconcile, and I was happy for them. In a lot of ways I felt like if they put Lucas behind them then their friendship could be even stronger. At this point, I expected the segi tiga, segitiga between Lucas, Peyton, and Brooke to be over…I guess I was waiting for what hurdle Leyton was going to be thrown next, after Brooke, and then Nikki, I only assumed that Leyton would prevail and pindah meneruskan, ke depan at the start of S2, even with Lucas leaving, I expected Leyton to resurface somehow…but I never expected Lucas to develop the genuine feelings for Brooke that he did in S2. I watched Lucas’s coming to terms with how Brooke, a girl he would have never dreamt in a million years would mean so much to him, was slipping away. Even lebih I watched him realizing how much he cared. If I ever had any doubts about brucas Lucas demolished those when he moved Brooke into his room so she wouldn’t have to leave for CA, and lebih importantly, he wouldn’t loose her. After that moment, I was and for ever would be in cinta with Brucas. His confession to her that he wanted to be with her in the S2 finale was so real, so genuine. And it couldn’t have been better timing IMO. Yes, she was leaving only moments later, but she had an entire summer to react, and she does so brilliantly I might add, in menulis the letters. I was discouraged with S3 at first, the friends with benefits, and the games she played with him, and lebih then ever her sleeping with Chris Keller. Lucas, so sure of his cinta for Brooke, made the shot that night with Rachel…Brooke was the one, he felt it. I can imagine seeing her with CK must have been devastating after the night he had. But, what he didn’t know was just how vulnerable Brooke was, how scared she was to get hurt again, and just when anda think that Lucas had diberikan up on her, he forgives her, she tells him she loves him, and he loves her too. So S3 is arguable, depending on where your loyalties stand, as I fruitlessly discovered in talking to LPers. But to me it was so many things. It showed two people fighting for love, in a real and honest way. They had good moments, bad moments, happy moments, sad moments, etc. But no matter what emotion they portrayed their chemistry was undeniable. They may not have had the undertones that Mark laid out for Leyton from the beginning, but they captured our hearts nonetheless. It’s one of the many reasons I cinta them so dearly. They were never alike in mind as Peyton and he were, but he loved her anyway, in fact he liked the fact that they were different…she brought fun to his life…and just like his tattoo, she was forever imprinted. With brucas the viewers got to experience their cinta story with front row seats…built up to its peak at Rachel’s cottage. There we experience the passion and solace of Brucas, all in one, as they sleep off their hard work getting Naley’s ring back, on the couch/chair together. Leaving the cottage, and returning to pohon Hill, brucas seemed unstoppable. But, then and there, I should have known something horrible was to come. And what was that horrible thing? Peyton’s confession…
It changed everything. Only now, years later have I finally come to terms with the fact that it was OTH that betrayed us brucas fans, and not Peyton atau even Leyton. anda see, the way I see it that was when they striped brucas of its dignity…when they began the brigade to disregard Brucas…destroy it…and for what? Leyton? The epic Leyton? Really? As so after thinking long and hard about this I realized why I was so angry. S6 just opened my eyes to it, but it was there all along. My seething hatred for the events that took place between 3.21-3.22 and 4.01. The time when Peyton, after giving her blessing to Brooke/Lucas not once but twice, takes back those words and confesses to cinta her boyfriend, Lucas! My blood is boiling just thinking about it. Without digressing entirely I will say this. The confession changed it all. It caused the demise of Breyton, was the straw that broke Brucas’s back, and then IMO allowed the existence of Leyton immediately afterward to be under false pretenses. The aftermaths of this confession were debilitating to the show, it affected my feelings towards Peyton, of Leyton, and for sure, Season 4.
Was the confession needed? Did Peyton have to admit her feelings to Brooke right then and there, only hours after proposing and leaving Jake? No, I firmly believe the tampil would have been better off, and I would have been much happier if they would have left that part out entirely. In doing so, it would have allowed Brooke to part ways with Lucas in order to find herself, instead of leaving the lingering idea that it was Peyton's confession that destroyed it. And though Lucas would have still undoubtedly fought for her, Peyton would have been there for both of them, and not just Lucas, which added fuel to the fire. Peyton, could have then expressed some will, repressed her feelings for Lucas properly as she claimed she was willing to do, and waited for brucas to be over. Then having diberikan herself ample time to digest the new found clarity of her cinta for Lucas could admit her true feelings to Lucas and Brooke as a neutral. Breyton may still have suffered a small blow, diberikan that Brooke will always cinta Lucas dearly, but IMO Brooke and brucas deserved better than what Peyton (the writers) offered up in her honest confession. Even though Peyton claimed she would not act on her feelings until brucas were over, Brooke knew that was not an option for Peyton, and she did not want to take the chance as to whether it was an option for Lucas to deny Peyton. Bottom line that confession was like a ticking time bomb. After serious consideration on Brooke’s part she breaks up with an unknowing Lucas…and according to her it wasn’t about Peyton, it was that she had stopped missing him. With out the confession, as it was written, my questioning of Peyton’s “friendship” with Lucas, who was unaware of her true feelings, and repeatedly was turning to her for support and guidance, would not have appeared to be stained, and wouldn’t be in question. Breyton would have remained friends, Peyton and Lucas could have found each other on their own terms, and the segi tiga, segitiga wouldn't have been revisited on such hasty terms. To me oleh them including the confession, it was like they tried to play both ends. On one end anda had Peyton's confession, on the other Brooke stopped missing him. For me, it doesn't work that way...it’s either one atau the other. For now, I’ve decided to personally omit Peyton’s confession from my memory. I have replaced it with the idea that Brooke broke up with Lucas solely to the tune of Missy Higgins’s Where I Stood. Brooke is oleh far lebih graceful than the writers have portrayed Peyton to be, and for that I admire her. She is my absolute favorit character on the show. The writers of this tampil have strung me along long enough…I have chosen to no longer hold Leyton atau Peyton accountable for the brucas demise, however I still hold true to brucas and will never waiver. Hopefully this season will recapture my heart, and the hearts of many old and new.
