Honestly this episode made me dislike Geppeto. I get that he wanted to save his kid but when Emma was born early and he still sent his son through instead of sending her mother that was just so wrong to me.

One can't really judge a father. I think any parent would have done the same as Geppeto did. Love blinds us..

^Exactly! Every parent would do the same for their children.

^^ Which is exactly why I don't understand how he could do that to someone elses child. She was a newborn for gosh sakes and you expect a 7 year old to look after her? As a parent he should have realizied she needed her mother.

for a parent first comes his child... He did save Snow&Charming's baby too...he didn't save himself, though he could have. he was selfless...

Totally selfish. Without question. He wasn't thinking about the good of the kingdom. Just himself and his son. Sacrificing others to protect someone you love is a selfish act. However, I do not judge Gepetto AT ALL. I completely understand his reasons. The person in this episode that I am angry with is August for abandoning Emma. Sure, he was only 7, but he could have come back for her in 28 years!!!

I completely understand why Geppetto did what he did but did he seriously think a seven year old could take care of a baby Emma really needed her mom

Both; he did it for his son not himself. But he betrayed the kingdom.

You can't judge parents by the same value system as other people, they're a completely separate species.
Any parent would have done the same in Gepetto's place. If I were a parent, I sure as hell know I'd make sure my kid was alright, even if it meant shoving others aside.
Do not meddle in the affairs of parents, for thou art soft and easily stab-able.

While I understand why Geppetto did what he did, he acted only in the interests of himself and his son. He didn't care about the rest of the kingdom.

They were completely selfish, but completely understandable. When your a parent your children come first EVERY time, if the world is coming to and end you do whatever you have to to try and save them. If I was in his situation and I had the chance to save my child I wouldn't have to think twice.

the thing was that Geppetto thought his son was going to die during the transition of the curse, that is become a lifeless piece of wood.

now... what father would let his own son die?

Geppetto could have gone with his son to our world. he could have. they would have been happy&together. but he choose to save the kingdom, by saving Emma instead of himself.

7 year old Pinocch was obviously able to do what needed to be done. He got her to a place where adults could take care of her. Pinocchio may have been only 7, but he wasn't stupid.

I cannot say that Gepetto was selfish. He did everything in his power to make sure the savoir got out of the reach of the curse -- he didn't have to. If he had been truly selfish, he could have made the tree-cabinet thing, and then left with himself and Pinocchio, leaving her behind. But he didn't.

I sympathized with him...until he decided that a seven year old boy would be a better protector for a newborn baby girl than her own mother!

If he did this simply to save himself, it'd be selfish. But he was trying to save his son. In a way it's both selfish and selfless at the same time.
