Usually the characters I like are a bit in-between, like a villain with heroic characteristics or a hero with villainous and/or morally ambiguous tendencies. But I'd take a pure evil character over a pure good character any day.

^^ Those kinds are awesome as well. Like the anti-hero/anti-villain types. They're usually the most complex and well played out.

Well I usually tend to prefer the protagonists but it all depends on how well written the characters are,so yeah if the protagonist is a terribly written character than I'm going to prefer the antagonist(honestly there have been quite a few times when a protagonist has annoyed me so much that I just wanted the antagonist to freaking kill him/her)but between a well written protagonist and well written antagonist I would still choose the protagonist.

Very rarely have I "rooted for" an antagonist. Some antagonists are really great and cool characters but I definitely prefer protagonists

Hah, I think I have a much more complicated opinion to this than almost everyone! I love those that are in-between, kind of neutral.

But I love a lot of Protagonists AND Antagonists, so I kinda just love all kinds, and don't choose a favorite for the side they are on but more on their personality, things they have been through and their actions.

There are times though that the Protagonists tends to annoy me and I'm WAY more fascinated and into the Antagonists! (Merlin is one of those shows, even though this is the movie spot lol, I love ALL the Antagonists in that plus Merlin himself, but the rest of the Protagonists, not so much)

The good guys are always so predictable. So righteous. So annoying.

It's so depends on the movie though! In some stories I like the good guys better, but lately I really have a thing for the villains in the movies. So I'm in between really.
