Of cause it has to serve the story, but I think it would be great! :) As much Merlin as possible, right? ^w^

According to Angel Coulby, you get your wish. It's five and it's finished. Guess, it can't "serve the story."

Capps and Murphy wanted otherwise:

Merlin executive producers Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy hope to scrap their previously stated 5-year plan for the show, while official plot details for the series 4 finale signal an extraordinary act.

While the Merlin creators originally spoke about a 5-year plan for Merlin, the show’s success in the ratings has allowed them to think to series 6, and possibly beyond. Johnny Capps told SFX:

“[The plan isn't to end with series 5]. To us, it’s all about whether the audience carries on enjoying it. If the audience carries on enjoying it, and we carry on enjoying making it, then we’ll keep making it.”

I fear for the end of the show, but I fear far more for the ruin/gradual decay of the show by continuing. Yes I'd like one more, but only if it can be safeguarded with amazing stories that will round the show up. :)

I totally agree with heartmerlin2. Merlin has been a pretty amazing show since now, and I really hope they won't ruin it by trying to make it last for too much longer. But hey, if they can make another 10 seasons which remain good, I'd totally love it! :)

I agree with heartmerlin2. But I don't get it how they have time to finish the story only in one season. Like there have to be Morgana's end, Mordred's end, the magic reveal and how Arthur deals with it, the dragons and uniting the lands of Albion etc. There is so much! But we will see how they manage. :)
