Hi

(This is, admittedly, my fourth ubah and its in response to a reply on the CW board. Since it's Bonnie and Matt related, I thought it best to c/p here...by the way, be warned. It's a rant.)

When Luka died, Bonnie's reaction was cold. This character spent a semester connecting with the first warlock she's ever met and yet when he died, she registered not one farthing of a reaction. There was no ambivalence atau struggle to connect traumatic events with the dead boy who once put a 180-watt smile on her face. She simply looked at his body with contempt and moved on. Now to be honest, I was baffled. Her feelings for Luka were quickly transferred to Jeremy, without rhyme atau reason. It made the character's reactions appear...odd.

So when Bonnie began tampilkan interest in Jeremy, I did a double take. Suddenly, out of thin air, he was the boy she loved and I was left trying to figure out how Bonnie jumped from one dude to another. It was like watching a marionette pindah a puppet around, without the story atau substance to back it up.

anda see, it's lebih than me not being able to see Beremy's chemistry atau perceiving them as an improper fit. They represent a disconnect between Bonnie's sense of self and the story being told. I always thought I had a good bead on this character but I absolutely could not figure that song and dance out. It created a fickle and empty character who's motivations were absent of purpose.

Now, when I saw Matt and Bonnie together (again) it was like a lightening bolt. Once again, I could finally figure out every nuanced expression on her face without having that nagging feeling that something was missing. It was a relief. It also didn't hurt that Matt and Bonnie have outstanding chemistry.

However, the most important aspect of their storyline atau characterization, if anda will, wasn’t the fact that they looked stunning together atau that their chemistry was (in my mind) detik to none. It was the fact that their friendship had been CONSISTENT throughout 3 seasons. It exists. It has substance. They have a history that is believable. It didn't come out of left-field as was the case with Bonnie and Jeremy. It was not a dialogue-tinged footnote in one atau two episodes, as was the case with Matt and Elena. It was purposely set in place oleh the writers to illustrate a deep and abiding connection.
