WE know everybody has to be there because terrible things are happening off the island, though, what happens on the island while everybody was gone?

Who would want to be off-island after seeing all that has happened to them? Also, the people left on the island are much cooler (for the most part).

it's much more exciting on the island. Never a dull moment! I would wanna figure out all the mysteries, even if it apparently means dealing with the Dharma. And who would wanna be off the island with a drugged up, suicidal, hallucinating Jack screaming "WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!", when you could be on a beautiful island with Sawyer? Lol. Poor Kate has to put up with Jack's crap.
