How she could have remained in office at the MoM, after everything she had done at Hogwarts in HP5 ? Well, when we see the turpitudes of our politicians in the real world, no surprise. She's the exact picture of them.

And Imelda Staunton, who played her, did a wonderful job as an actress. She got the gist of the character to perfection.
