Why was the Weasley's House burned down on the movie ?

That was something I didn't understand either as it wasn't in the book.In the movie, the Weasley's house is burnt down oleh a spell casted oleh Bellatrix Lestrange after a battle with Harry. I think this was stupid, along with the fact that they put this in and missed out Dumbledore's funeral.

It was because in the book, Harry reads about attacks in the Muggle world. In the film, they decided that Harry and the Weasleys would experience it first hand.

Half Blood Prince is a hard book to turn into a film. David Yates says it's a "talky Potter, not an action Potter" and since he cut out all major fighting scenes (the fights at the end) he needed action so he added the burning down the Weasley's house.

I think it's stupid, and the fact he didn't put Dumbledore's funeral in because it "didn't fit in with the rest of the film" (David Yates quote, not mine) WTF! Of course it did. When someone dies, anda have a funeral.

anda know what, I have no idea. I haven't read the sixth book for a long time, but I don't think that actually happened. I just guess that the writers thought that everything needed lebih action/drama/symphaty-whatever. It just seems really acak to me. The wedding's in the last book.

because harry is living with weasleys and bellatricks lestrange hates harry a lot and only for this reason she burns the weasleys house.

Well i the book the attack happensbut the house doesn't burn down. I think theey just added that. I dont know if it happened for sure but im
pretty sure I just finished readig it. They do
have the wedding at their house so dont
know why they would burn it down.

anda know, that was confusing for me as well. My brother, who claims to go to Hogwarts every night with his two young sons, and I watched the movie, then reread the book, and it wasn’t anywhere in the book. So I am just confused as to why they did that…

I know this is an old question, and anda priobably found the answer already, but for the sake of those who look it up and don't see the answer: The reason the Weasley house burned down in the movie, but not the book, is because this was J.K. Rowling's original intentions. She decided against it, and allowed them to do it in the movie instead. This is similar to how Breaking Dawn Part 2 ended with the big action scene, we can assume that's how Stephanie Meyer had originally wanted Breaking Dawn to end.
