Chapter 25 : "A Rift Into My Heart"
"Look, I-" Edward lurched at her with tear filled eyes, he didn't even care how unmanly he looked, he just let all of the frustration and sorrow rain down his flushed face.
"Why do anda always do this to m-me?" She just stood there, dumbfounded. Letting him squeeze her tighter.
"Don't anda know how much it hurts every time I'm not around you?" charlotte now felt a cool tear brim her bottom eye lid.
"And how anda tore a rift into my jantung ever since anda left?" He whined into her neck, his cold tears trickled down onto her chest. She wrapped her arms around him and listened to him sob and whimper. She couldn't believe how fragile he was right now.
Meanwhile, Winry witnessed her group of friends rush down the stairs. Alphonse quickly helped her up, wobbling slightly since she had bruised her knees on her ever so graceful fall. Mason examined the gory scene before him, the serpent cut into pieces on the marble floor, and the two sobbing teens in the center, still dressed in their formal wear. He couldn't explain it, but something gnawed at him, something burned way down when he saw the two. Envy? Jealousy? He couldn't grasp the feeling.
"I'm sorry for everything, I'm sorry for what I said. I'm sorry......." He sobbed even harder. "I'm sorry.....I'm sorry.... I'm sorry...." The crying boy grasped her frazzled hair and pulled away from her.
"Please come home." She nodded as Rosemary stepped from he darkness.
"You've finally revealed yourself." The older woman's eyes lit up as she looked to the carcass of the snake-like chimera.
"Very nice Charlotte. Your lebih powerful than I thought." She dropped to her knees and clapped her hands, a large transmutation lingkaran appeared around the whole Ball Room.
"I've got two for the price of one, how perfect." The serpent quickly dissolved into the floor, just to come back through and pin the two to the floor, in the middle of the circle.
" What the hell is going on here?!" Screamed Edward as he squirmed in his imprisonment. Rosemary shook her head distastefully.
"Don't even try; once I extract her Philosopher's stone; I'll kill anda both." charlotte looked down to her arm, feeling it go numb. It was dismantling itself, like burning paper.
"I need that stone to resurrect my lover. My husband found out, so he killed him." She threw her head back and cackled maniacally.
"SO I KILLED MY HUSBAND!" Rosemary walked circles around the two, watching Mason in the corner.
"So it was natural that I rid my life of my daughter also, I couldn't have her tell anyone."
Mason's eyes lit up as he watched Charlotte's body start to dissolve. He lurched at the elderly woman , he was blocked oleh a simple hand gesture; she had created a barrier with the swipe of a hand. It dissipated after contact. He was blown back, just as charlotte let out a yelp when her body was completely dismantled.
"CHARLOTTE!" Edward's body began to die out also, though his artificial limbs were untouched. Suddenly, a flurry of white light manifested itself where charlotte once lied, a body communing into vision. Rosemary was ensuring everything was in check when a heavy metal object hit her upside the head.
"Touch the automail and die anda hag!" Winry stood on her bruised legs, another wrench in hand. She was hoping to distract Rosemary; to stop her from going any further with her experiment.
"You little Bitch!" The senile woman flew at Winry, sending a rift of light at her; Alphonse blocked the blow. Mason took this as a chance to send her back where she came. He kicked her in the side, sending her flying into the marble wall. Edward regained his body, though charlotte was becoming something different; she was becoming the murdered child of Rosemary; Evangeline.
"No! NO!" Rosemary caterwauled as Edward managed to free himself from his prison. His senses hadnt quite returned to him yet. Rosemary regained her composure and attempted to continue with her transmutation.
"This shouldn't be happening, I need him!" Rosemary was scurrying to put her lingkaran back together when a blade was shoved through her body. Blood poured out her mouth and she collapsed into the floor, Edward withdrawing his arm. Rosemary's body was drowning in her own pool of blood, she looked up at him with bloodshot eyes and hissed:
"I hope anda burn in hell!" The corpse melted into the marble floor.
"I'll see anda there." Edward kicked her head farther into the flooring, totally disappearing.
The serpent dissipated and all that was left was Evangeline's body. Edward and Mason rushed to her body.
"What do we do?" Mason shook his head and felt for a pulse.
"She's gone, I don't know." Her body lit up an unearthly white, symbolizing the manifestation of a spirit.
"It's too late." She opened her eyes, the boys finding that they were blue, like they had anticipated. Evangeline was pale, almost blue in color. And she had just lied there.
"No. I don't want...I don't want to come back." She felt her face, cold to the touch.
"No. No! I don't want to be here! I want to go back!" She grabbed the kemeja cuffs of Mason.
"Help me! Please!" Her eyes were frantic as she scanned the room. Edward sighed and clapped his hands together, Mason grabbed his hands and shook his head.
"You've diberikan up enough. Let me do it." Ed nodded and allowed Mason to follow through with his transmutation, her body was enveloped in a white glowing light, Evangeline thanking Mason and watching her dissolve.
"There shouldn't be any consequence, charlotte has a Philosopher's Stone." Mason held his hands on the lingkaran and watched in awe as charlotte began to appear. Her eyes flipped open as she inhaled violently and choked on her air intake.
"Thank God." Winry and Alphonse knelt beside her body.
She lazily sat forward; her lingkaran growing larger.
"I've seen her....I met her at the Gate." Mason nodded and helped her up. She was slightly unstable, wobbling to her feet. The Ball Room had returned to normal, the blood vaporizing into the air.
"We need to get back to HQ. Help her get her things." Edward motioned to the stairs, Mason following orders.
