I'm a little worried about the ratings this season. The premiere dropped a lot from last year and episode 2 dropped even more (it had like 5 mil)...
I don't live in the US but I'm aware that on Thursdays, Fringe has strong competition (Grey's Anatomy and CSI) :(

it may have dropped from last season but 5 million is still good for ratings although i do not understand the move to thursdays nights at 9 i guess fox wants it to compete with Greys anatomy but 5 million is good for ratings and we are just going to have to wait and see where it goes

It's after Bones, which has been pretty successful with ratings lately. The only thing I object about it is that it's at the same time as The Office. :p

^Bones is a great lead-in, so I suppose the execs at Fox were smart for thinking of that. However, Grey's, CSI, and The Office are all very strong competitors, so it seems as if having Bones as a lead-in on Thursday nights hasn't been as effective as it should be. :(

I don't think the time slot is going to kill the show, but it might be better on a different night because of all the competition. It works for me and has a great lead-in, so I'm not too worried.

There's really two reasons that I can see why someone would answer "yes" to this question: 1) A different air date is not a good night for them, and/or 2) They're worried that Fringe will get lower ratings on a different air date.

For #1, my response is: Who watches shows when they're broadcast anymore? The night that a show is first aired has little to no bearing on when more and more people watch the shows. I don't actually personally know anyone who watches shows when they air - everybody watches all their shows on Hulu or the network web sites. Well, I do know two people with DVRs, but for everybody else, it's internet viewing. I don't think we're unique: the popularity of videos on Fanpop is another testament to the prevalence of online TV viewing.

For #2: Yes, I'm sad that the networks give the completely bogus Nielsen numbers so much credence when considering whether to keep a show or not (second-guessing what the advertisers will support), but if I worried about dumb decisions the networks made, I'd get an ulcer. It's tragic that Nielsen doesn't represent the many millions of us who watch shows this way, but someday they may catch up to the current century. The thing is, because of #1, I have no actual awareness of what night shows air any more. I don't have a Hollywood Reporter subscription now, and that was my last remaining tie to broadcast schedules.

Why, oh why does it have to be on the same time as Supernatural? I dropped Grey's in a hot minute when I found out it was gonna be on the same time as Fringe & SPN. There's only so many TV shows I can watch. My priority clearly lies with the SiFi/nerdy shows so I'll keep watching but I'm afraid others wont.

Well before I couldn't watch it because The Mentalist was on at the same time, and if it had stayed in that time slot this season I wouldn't be able to watch it because of NCIS:Los Angeles, but with it's new timeslot I have no trouble worrying about missing other shows while watching it.

I think it works well following bones, and I'd love to see a cross over show. Dunham and Booth both work for the FBI.

I am actually was a kind of a smart move. Bones comes on right before so maybe people who like bones will be more inspired to try Fringe. Fringe is an awesome show! And My mom loves to watch a show called Whale Wars on Friday's so...It's good they put it on Thursdays, I think.
