It is No Privilege 

The way I see it, some people are in a position to freely consent to sex work. I can write smutty fanfiction for the specific enjoyment of other people. If I decided to charge for it, it would be essentially like an erotic chat or phone service. Why not move to that? People will pay for that. Actually having sex with people isn't that far away. I can conceive of people making a career out of that and feeling quite satisfied. That is privilege coming from being of the middle class, though. People who seriously need money can become prostitutes without coming from that same place and thus effectively surrender to abuse, and that's a problem. I think the main issue is poverty. Focus on reducing that to maximize people's choices.

Reducing poverty, discrimination and misogyny would help. I really can't see how it would be very satifying to have sex with just anyone with the right amount of cash. Do you get to pick your customers? The way our society is structured right now it seems pretty impossible. Fanfiction isn't quite as intimate as letting strangers have access to your body, I think it's quite a GIGANTIC leap from fanfiction and phone sex or chatting to being penetrated vaginally and anally.
