I still think she's a good role model despite this.

No worse than realizing she's REALLY IN LOVE THIS TIME! with a guy she's known for a day and a half. =/

I don't think traits by themselves make or break a role model, it's how the author chooses to handle it. A story portraying a girl who wants to marry a guy she just met as being the right thing to do? No. A story that has characters call her out on how silly that is, puts her in situations where she learns her lesson and does better, and makes it clear to the audience that it's okay to like the character and admire her other traits and decisions but just not this one? I don't see a problem.

People make mistakes all the time. Kicking a character off a role model pedestal just because she makes a foolish decision, even if she learns and grows from it (supposedly), will ensure that there are NO role models anymore because by those standards NO ONE can live up to them. Part of the Hero's Journey is making mistakes, dealing with them, then learning and growing from it.

It's the stories that don't call characters out on their poor decisions or morals, portrays their questionable mentality or behavior as admirable and not needing to change, and other such that makes them bad role models as far as I'm concerned.

Like Tyger said, it's not about what the character does, but how does the narrative present their actions. As adults, we can have our own judgement and conclusion of the characters without needing the narrator telling us how to feel, but for kids, yeah. They DO need to know what is good and what is bad because most of them will be influenced by these movies and will believe most of what they preach in them is true. So, we have the responsibility of showcasing when the character has done a great mistake and not celebrate it...

I think that's another reason why I like Brave, Merida acts foolish, yes. But she gets to understand the gravity of her actions and admits it's all her fault and attempts to mend the problem. The narrative of the movie also shows what she did was bad, at the end, which is also a good thing.

It's not Anna herself the problem, but how the message of the movie came out by adding the Kristanna romance at the end after Hans' reveal. "You can't marry a man you just met...But he can totally be your boyfriend after knowing him for two days!!!!" Seriously :/

The only reason Anna marries a man she just met is because she is incredibly lonely. Her parent's died three years ago, her sister hasn't talked to her since she was five and she hasn't seen a face outside of the castle almost her entire life. If Elsa had interacted with her sister more, and showed her that Anna was actually loved, then she wouldn't be dying for affection. Of course it was a stupid idea, but that doesn't mean Anna is stupid or a bad role model for trying to find some happiness in her life. In fact, the fact that she is still so kind and sweet is admirable in the same way Cinderella s. She so quickly could have become a hateful and bitter person.

I still think she's good because her position was understandable, and she ADMITTED it was a mistake, which is admirable in my book, especially after she goes out of her way to fix everything. besides, if one mistake makes a girl a bad role model, they all are. that includes the girls who never get called bad ones who I don't even need to name.

She still has other good qualities, and it was understandable, but still bad is bad and reasons just don't cut it all.

The writers extremely exploit it as a huge flaw of Anna while if we were in her place, we would understand why she did that. Besides, the man she wanted to marry was sooo good to her (they even know each other more than Aladdin and Jasmine do). But thanks to the fact that Hans is the antagonist makes her a bad role model in this occasion.
