The new redesign isn't bad and is much more in line with the original. But you still can't beat the movie version.

She in CGI doen't looks so good

Her 2D redesign is very sexily gorgeous, LOL XD. I also love her in CGI, it suits her personality perfectly. My least favourite is definitely the new redesign. In my mind, it looks like a semi-3D or what? Her face is kind of scary even though the fiery curly hair and the outfit are fine.

I LOATH re-designing tomboy princesses to fit the sparkling, fashionable, glamorous, conventionally attractive beauty queen cookie-cutter mold of every other princess. Just as there is no one right way to be a girl, there shouldn't be one right way to be a princess, and there shouldn't be only one right way to market her to little girls (if you HAVE to market her at all).

Doesn't this just send a poignant message to little girls? "We know you THINK you love Mulan/Merida because she's an awkward, a-romantic, athletic tomboy like you, but WE know you REALLY love her because of the sparkly dress she's forced to wear for a few minutes in her film, and you really want to be all gussied up like she is here, because we know that's what all girls want!" F*CK YOU, Disney!

People have a right to hate it if they want, but don't you think also implying fashion and looking pretty are harmful? and that tomboys can't be (which a lot of them would disagree with)? I kind of get why some people are mad, but I think overall a lot of people (cough anti-Disney parents who made that petition) overreacted and came off as misogynist. I don't think most little girls like Mulan for that reason anyway. I agree with these:

When it comes down to it, Disney is all about what makes money, and sparkly dresses and cute hair make money because most little girls LOVE it.

None really.

I will always choose the original design, unless it's horrendous lol. But I do think her redesign is well done, and certainly better than Rapunzel's.
