Never really got how Eric was bland, he doesn't lack strong characteristics.

idk if you mean personality or looks but eric is bland for both (doesnt make him less charming though ;) )
phillip is hot and has a distinct personality, brave, funny, deep, and cocky but super chivalrous

Only by a small smudge. While both are generic in personality (nice, hero, Prince Charming), and barely a thing about them is known including their life situation and their perspective of things in the movie. Both are really a prize for the princesses to get after all the turmoil they did, which makes the difference between them and Beast and Jasmine.

I say Prince Eric because while there is not much known about him and he has the typical, generic traits, we know more about his hobbies, what his situation was in the beginning of the story, and he has a bigger effect on the story. We also see his world unlike Phillips which define him and his upbringing even more.

Eh.. Not fond of either. Imo, both super boring and bland .-.

Do you realize how Philip's last line is "Goodbye, Father." And that's halfway through the movie?

do you realise that's because he went off to meet the peasant girl, got captured, escaped, had to fight a dragon, then went back to the castle with her?
Eric is basically Charming or Prince with more lines, a male Mary Sue. Phillip goes out and does stuff and started the whole brave hero trope in Disney. Poor Eric, he's a only a plot device.

honestly, people need to stop voting for their favourites in these polls. And don't tell me they aren't, Eric is the Aaron Samuels of Disney hunks. it isn't about who you love best, it's about whatever the poll says.

Again I say, Eric is Charming 2.0! You guys know bland doesn't mean bad, right? I think this site picks favorites way too much.

And you don't? You always favor the classics, which is not bad, I like that they are getting attention. Just don't say everyone is being biased for no reason.
