It'd be interesting to see the Prince hiding out with the 7 dwarfs and the dynamic of that!

Since it's about someone being jealous of someone elses beauty I can't imagine a guy version of it. Women are usually considered the beauty of the human genders. It just works better with girls.

Since gender doesn't really affect the story (yeah, guys I now get envious of other guys appearance too) I don't think it'd really change.

I've seen plenty of beautiful males and makes have features that more attractive than a female's. (Although girls do have way better hair and more variety of fashion.) Can't women be portrayed for being smart, strong, and independent?! Sorry to get all angry, but I'm a feminist and believe in gender equality. Don't take it personally. Oh yeah I'd like it the same.

It just wouldn't be the same without perky little Snow White with her spoon on her hip bossing around the dwarfs! I also really like the dichotomy of the complexity of her character and how one-dimensional she appears on the surface, and we wouldn't really get too much of that if she wasn't the main character. Also, it is true that the whole "fairest in the land" plot wouldn't be as pertinent. Men generally don't get as jealous of looks, and would be much less likely to admit to it. I would be interested to see ho it panned out though, but I wouldn't like it as much.

Yeah, the whole "fairest of the land" thing, and all the cooking and cleaning and being all motherly to the dwarves... you CAN make it work with a guy, but it just makes more sense with a girl. And don't jump on me, feminists, of course I love strong women characters and I believe in gender equality. But there are such things as differences between men and women. And especially in the context of the time of this story...you just can't tell me it would be all the same if the roles were switched.
