don't hate Ariel, but how she acted is one reason she is not a favorite of mine...I don't listen to music when working (don't have essays anymore either)....meh the restraunt sounds interesting I suppose....Pocahontas and John have never been a fav of mine.....And Rapunzel is not unstable....They just showed her emotions more then the other Princesses....As I said before I like how they showed she felt bad about what she was doing and that she actually cared about what her actions would do to her mother....I am the same way and that is one reason I could never go agianst or hurt my mother...I waited to rebelle after I left home and was not under my Parents rules...Gothel may have been crazy but she was still Rapunzels "Mother" and so Rapunzel still loved and respected her...It would have been nice if they had shown Ariel actually had a conciense and cared about how her actions would have affected her family (maybe then I would not hink she is such a selfish B) Rapunzel is not moody she just actually thinks before she does things and is senstive and thinks of others...That is why she is one of my top favs....

If you hate Rapunzel then you might as well hate Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Cinderella. They all did something daring in their life. Rapunzel is NOT mentally unstable or whatever because she's taking her chance and finding out herself.

Yes her mood changes but don't all of ours at some point or another. We all have self doubt and wonder if we're making the right decision. I could talk about this all day but I won't.

It's such a beautiful ending. I would still prefer this even if she did get back together with John Smith in the sequel, there's so much emotion in it.

The Rapunzel one confuses me. As a big fan of Tangled and her character in particular I believe that her mental instability is a remarkable feature of her characterization which I apploud Disney for coming up with in a Disney Princess movie and especially making one of the official princesses so psychologically damaged having clear signs of various anxieties and bi-polarism. It was made pretty clear that being unstable is one of the defining features of her personality and one of the primary reasons for her emotional conflict that she faces throughout the movie while battling her issues and learning to adjust to new life and integrate herself into the society. Acknowleding that she has those features isn't criticism, criticism is when people actually blame her for having obvious psychological problems and issues/struggles while none of it is her fault.

Also the most ironic thing is that Ariel and Triton came to have a trustful and loyal relationship based on mutual acceptance and respect - something that they entirely lacked in the beginning of the movie - only after Ariel had the guts to follow her heart and to leave the sea becoming a human as she always wanted to. Had she not done it she would have remained miserable for life being trapped in a place and in a body she didn't belong with her father neglecting and disrecpecting her interests and aggressively attacking her for her different outlooks and worldview and without any single doubt nothing good would have come out of it and both Ariel and Triton would have never learnt to accept and respect one another with inward and hidden anger accompanying their relationship untill the end. There would have been no Ariel/Eric happiness, no Melody, no Triton changing his misguided views on humans and learning to see things from a different angle and everyone would have been miserable. So yeah, the Ariel one makes no sense to me.

But why was it necessary Triton to accept Areil's point of view? Why didn't she accept his? Everybody always blames Triton, when Ariel was just as rude and stubborn.

^ Because Ariel did NOT emotionally pressure Triton or demand it from him to change his views or in fact, to change at all nor did she destroy his posessions when he refused doing so, she just wanted understanding as she clearly stated when talking to Flounder. Ariel wasn't the one to discriminate the entire different culture labeling everyone who lives on land as "barbaric fish eaters" (which in itself is an incredibly contradictory statement considering vegetarians - the ones Triton obviously did not want to take in consideration, and the fact that sea creatures eat each other all the time which is a part of an eating chain) and yet Ariel still let her father live with that misguided views while he wasn't nearly as accepting of her opinions and outlooks.

But according to the TLM 3, humans killed Areil's mother. That's why Triton hated them. Did she not cared about her mother?

What a strong assumption about someone (even if this someone is a fictional character) to suggest they don't care about their parents because they do not discriminate the entire culture because of few representators of said culture that happened to do bad things. So basically, if Ursula caused clear and obvious harm to merfolk all of the sea creatures should be considered awful beings that do not deserve love and acceptance because of the actions of one or because there are sharks who kill mermaids and other dangerous aspects of life under water? Look, you don't have to love Ariel but to say that she didn't care about her late mother is a bit extreme, don't you think?
